The Left thinks that criminals have more rights than citizens and police. This policy is that belief in practice.

"In a move that still confuses Ramos and Compean, the U.S. government filed charges against them after giving full immunity to Aldrete-Davila and paying for his medical treatment at an El Paso hospital. "

Now, WHO wants to be a Border Patrol agent????? Unbelievable!!!! I'm absolutely speechless!

The El Paso Sheriff's Department has increased its patrols around the Ramos home. The family is receiving threats from people they believe are associated with Aldrete-Davila.

Oh, but they have every right to retaliate. Ramos asked the right question: what ARE they supposed to do? Catch them or not?

So the US prosecuting attorney and a Texas jury found these guys guilty? Why would anyone want to jeopardize theirs lives guarding the border when you can get convicted of this mess. It's the same with proscuting our soldiers of rdoing what they were trained to do.

I would imagine that the assistant US attorney is trying to make a name for herself.

The version of events presented by the U.S. Attorney's Office during the agents' trial differed markedly from Ramos'.

"The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled it is a violation of someone's Fourth Amendment rights to shoot them in the back while fleeing if you don't know who they are and/or if you don't know they have a weapon," said Kanof, the assistant U.S. attorney.

Ramos testified during the trial that he saw Aldrete-Davila with something "shiny" in his hand, she said, and though Ramos told the Daily Bulletin he thought it was a gun, he couldn't be sure, she said.

Moreover, the agents "did not know who this individual was or what he had in the van," Kanof said. "They just decided or guessed."

She then reiterated her contention that pursuing Aldrete-Davila or anyone else fleeing border agents is not part of the Border Patrol's job.

"Agents are not allowed to pursue. In order to exceed the speed limit, you have to get supervisor approval, and they did not," she said.

The prosecutor also said the men destroyed the crime scene when Compean picked up his shell casings and attempted to cover up their actions by not reporting they'd fired their weapons.

Sounds like we need the death penalty. For prosecutors.

I did not support the PATCO action but for this, I would support a strike by the Border Agents or mass resignation. WTF side is our government on?

The government is on the side of Republican campaign contributors that need cheap labor.

Well, I read all that. Are you saying that their convictions are justified?

Very strange and inexplicable case. I'd like to know more about Aldrete-Davila, such as what kind of connections he has in Mexico. From this case, there are indications he's connected to some powerful people in the Mexican government. This prosecution needs much more explanation because it certainly looks like a justifiable shooting by the BP agent.

As would I. This is insane. Frankly I couldn't believe this single article but a few minutes on google would suggest this think is at least based on facts.

If those guys are given ANY type of punishment, every Agent should call in sick for a couple days. Granted, that would cause HUGE (and I mean hugh!) problems but it would at least draw attention to this situation.

Crazy. Absolutely crazy.
