I recall the bar in that Sopranos episode where Tony beat the life out of a bartender who ventured a less than patriotic opinion. Sometimes the only answer to people who talk back - not in a good way - is the end of one's fist.

Another good Sopranos analogy would be when Tony and Carmela went to dinner and the kid across from them wore his baseball hat at the table.
Perceived use and use of pure power has this effect on people. On the other hand we have seen what happens when you let terrorists attach you and you don't respond with overwhelming force.
