STRANDED SENATOR A DEAD MAN RUNNING (Lieberman gets more bad news on campaign trail)
NY POST ^ | August 7, 2006 | ANDREA PEYSER

Posted on 08/07/2006 3:52:21 AM PDT by Liz

Sen. Joe Lieberman stood in the parking lot of Mickey's Oceanic Grill chatting with exactly two people - one supporter and a stranger wearing a dirty tan raincoat with food speckling the left corner of his mouth.......the guy leaned in and asked Joe weirdly, "What color are your eyes?" Joe laughed - then rapidly got the hell away.....on the campaign trail Lieberman, after 18 years in the Senate, struggles to stay alive..... Democrats have abandoned him in droves because of his support for the war in Iraq.....

The cooling rain never arrives, and neither do the people. This forced the candidate to step inside Mickey's and try to persuade folks to look up from their lobster rolls. That's when this campaign stop started to resemble a wake.....people refused to look up.......

Things actually got worse up the road in Manchester.....campaign workers enthusiastically waving pro-Joe signs only seemed to make some commuters mad. .....a man fumed from his car. "How many more people have to die for oil?" And then, Lieberman melted down. "I didn't put my finger up in the wind to see which way it was blowing!"......He looked up, startled, as reporters took notes. "That was unplanned," he said apologetically. "That just came out of me."

liar man has a 17% ACU rating. That is lower than any rino even chaffee, snow collins etc. Let him win as an indy and stay that way.

While I'm a big believer in ACU ratings, they can be manipulated by party-line voting an matters that are already settled. Meaning, if chaffee, snow, collins were Dims, they'd vote with their party a few more times when things don't really matter and that would lower their rating, if Lieb was a Pubbie, his score would be raised for the same reason. (Pols generally avoid taking the heat for dissing their party only when they need to. - McCain needs to for media praise.)

The whole thing tells you more about his party than it does about him

re: lieberman is a liberal in all things but Israel.)))

You nailed it, and that's the Stealth Issue that Lamont is banking on.

Visit one of Lamont's blogs, and notice all the "code language" going on there about Israel, and you'll see what is truly driving Lamont's campaign. Have you heard even a whisper of this from anybody? You'd have to read the blogs to even know it's going on.

Iraq is the text. Israel is the subtext.

Have you noticed the complete lack of vocal Jewish support for Lieberman?

re: It won't go over well. On the other hand, there really aren't that many Jewish voters.)))

It isn't the numbers of voters, it's the amount of political interest in the way of donations and fund-raising and public statements, etc.

Has anyone else noticed that Lieberman is being hung out to dry by more than just the Democrats?

I have very mixed feelings about this race. Okay, not VERY. Barring repentance, Lieberman will always be in my Hall of Shame for single-handedly saving Clinton's pasty white butt with his "Naughty! Naughty! Okay, let's move on" speech in the Senate.

Wasn't it Ann Coulter who said something like, "Joe is always wrestling with his conscience and his conscience always loses"?

True that.

I have to admire the libs for booting this guy. I wish conservatives would do the same about Chafee.

Over the weekend LIEberman jumped on her heinous' bandwagon and called for Rumsfeld to resign.

Lieberman always does what's best....... for himself....... and now he's getting exactly what he deserves.

What is a lobster roll?

Every New Englander knows this is a gift from God.

The classic is a butter-toasted, soft-sided hot dog roll (of a style found only in New England) filled to overflowing with lobster meat chunks mixed with mayo.

Served with a side of cole slaw.

I doubt that throwing Lieberman overboard is going to go over well for the Dems among Jewish voters.

Excellent point!

I called his D.C. office and left a nice sweet message remarking on how much I am enjoying his misery.

Lobster roll to go.

BTW, those soft-sided rolls---found only in New England for some reason----elevate the lowly hot dog to gourmet status.

The dog and the roll are toasted in butter, then served. Eaten New England-style, with mustard AND sweet pickle relish (sometimes called picalilly)

Wasn't it Ann Coulter who said something like, "Joe is always wrestling with his conscience and his conscience always loses"?

His saving Clinton from impeachment was the clincher. LIEB talked the big talk for the cameras---but when it came to walk the walk, he folded-up like a cheap cardboard box.

.....so much for Bill Clinton campaigning for someone.......he is yet the only one he has ever gotten elected is himself!....

Tipoff: You knew LIEb was in trouble when he hauled in WJC as a campaign device.

Yep. Jaw, jaw, jaw. But bottom line, vote Dem, vote babykilling, vote to clear Clinton.

Marketplace value of TALK is the same as ever.
