STRANDED SENATOR A DEAD MAN RUNNING (Lieberman gets more bad news on campaign trail)
NY POST ^ | August 7, 2006 | ANDREA PEYSER

Posted on 08/07/2006 3:52:21 AM PDT by Liz

Sen. Joe Lieberman stood in the parking lot of Mickey's Oceanic Grill chatting with exactly two people - one supporter and a stranger wearing a dirty tan raincoat with food speckling the left corner of his mouth.......the guy leaned in and asked Joe weirdly, "What color are your eyes?" Joe laughed - then rapidly got the hell away.....on the campaign trail Lieberman, after 18 years in the Senate, struggles to stay alive..... Democrats have abandoned him in droves because of his support for the war in Iraq.....

The cooling rain never arrives, and neither do the people. This forced the candidate to step inside Mickey's and try to persuade folks to look up from their lobster rolls. That's when this campaign stop started to resemble a wake.....people refused to look up.......

Things actually got worse up the road in Manchester.....campaign workers enthusiastically waving pro-Joe signs only seemed to make some commuters mad. .....a man fumed from his car. "How many more people have to die for oil?" And then, Lieberman melted down. "I didn't put my finger up in the wind to see which way it was blowing!"......He looked up, startled, as reporters took notes. "That was unplanned," he said apologetically. "That just came out of me."

I often think of Scoop- he must be rolling in his grave at this new breed of Democrats. And Moynihan...LOL..he'd have some choice words for them!

My son doesn't believe me when I tell him there were honorable opponents in "the old days"..:)

Hell he is better than Chaffee

No, he is not. He votes with the Dems 90% of the time. ACU lifetime rating: Lieberman-17; Chafee-37. Lieberman has said he will remain a Democrat.

"...whatever we may contest about the Senator's positions, he's been a public servant for years- he must have done something right, to keep getting elected where he is."

Does that apply to Richard Byrd and Ted Kennedy too?

Scoop was a good guy, and I always knew that if he had been elected President, the country would not have been in danger- unlike the current crop of ranters & screamers.

And Pat? When he was Ambassador to the UN, he just gave them Hell- which they deserved.

One thing I deeply regret about the Clinton's desecration of the White House ( security issues aside ~shudder!~ ) was that that awful man was my nieces' example of the Presidency while they grew up.

It's an ugly thing, to see him treated so shabbily.

There is a lesson here: Liberals, in their quest for "purity" within the party, are destroying the party.

We have some conservatives that would like to do the same to the RNC.

We must have patience and continuously teach the benefits of conservative principles to the voters. It takes longer, but builds a more solid, long-lasting base.

Good points- it used to be, the argument was more government vs. more freedom, spend here, cut there- now it seems to be only variants of "I hate Boosh! And you should, too! Support me!"

Actually, it does- much as I detest Kennedy, for example, if you are a voter who believes as he does, he's a good representative for you- he is willing to speak out, and fight, on behalf of causes he supports. I wish more of those damned Republicans were half as aggressive and vocal for those they represent.

I doubt that throwing Lieberman overboard is going to go over well for the Dems among Jewish voters.

I wish I could believe that.

I really don't want to see all the idiots like Kos and the HuffingtonPost gargoyles think they can influence this country with their Stalinist views. Lieberman is still better than the typical Democrat from New England.

This election, and every election from now to the end of time - IF CONSERVATIVES ARE MOBILIZED - TOTALLY - We WILL WIN!

Democrats will NEVER achieve Majority again, and the Demos will probably split into smaller NUT CASE Parties, LOL!

It won't go over well. On the other hand, there really aren't that many Jewish voters.

lieberman is a liberal in all things but Israel.

Exactly! Let them eat their own. Let's use this opportunity to add a Republican Senator.

This is typical of the left. Uncivilized and prepared to eat their own in a heartbeat. That is what happens when one's system of morality is held together by the cheap glue of relativism and moral equivalency. There is no room for differing opinions among rabid leftists, which make up the majority of the party's leadership now. If you have ever tried to debate with one of these people, you will understand what I mean. It usually will degrade into personal attacks once you have dissected their hollow mantras in front of them.

Joe Lieberman and I disagree on many fronts. But the man does indeed have a shred of decency and patriotism. The democrat party is a disgrace to humanity. If not an outright threat to freedom loving people everywhere.

It is worth mentioning, that socialists (PolPot, Mao, Stalin, et.al.) were responsible for more deaths of innocent men, women and children than any other organized ideology in history.

A lot of people are extremely stupid.

Not that I have anything against God, but this would be a much more fitting statement to put on money than "In God We Trust".....
