How in hell are modern day people supposed to interpret or understand what ancients 600bc were thinking or meaning? WE don't even understand most of the Mideast in this day and age.

There is a common thread throughout the Bible. Proverbs says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Through prayer and meditation the Lord can reveal these truths to you. A good Bible commentary may guide you until its meaning comes more into focus. With a thorough reading of the Bible it becomes more connected and real.
