But the doctored photo doesn't make Beirut look any more wasted than the original. That's my point. I understand propaganda. I know how it works, and how it can be abrupt or subtle. This case is neither. It's just stupid.
The fraudulent photo is darker, more sinister, and makes the devastation look more immediate and complete.
FWIW, I thought it did. And I'm sure they thought that technique a lot safer than photoshopping a building that would turn out not to have been hit. It's all about nuance. And fortunately, they didn't get it right.

Well, if they were all that smart to begin with they wouldn't be shilling for terrorists, would they? It's not as though Reuters was cleaner than Caesar's wife to begin with.
Just a thought here.
Because the photoshop job was so bad, maybe it's bad on purpose, done by someone that wants to send a message that we need to look at other photos.
I'm only saying this because that is exactly what is happening.
