In addition to all of the great remarks on this thread, it should be noted that the "fake smoke" is dark black. Dark black smoke is generally found with hydrocarbon fires. If you look at most legitimate photographs of explosions in the city of concrete, one would expect plumes of smoke the color of......yes....concrete.....light grey. That is what the posted legitimate photo showed. These Reuters hotdogs are too clever. What a bunch of putzes.

This same photographer seems to almost specialize in smoke photos, if you Google his name.
For instance, he took a lot of photos of the Beiruit airport, when the IAF first bombed it, which probably gave him a lot of nice black smoke.
But I'm sure he has lots lying around to choose from.
