Yes, that raises another point to pursue: were there ANY fires in this part of Beirut with such dark oily smoke at the time the photo was taken, or is ALL of the smoke overlaid from another photo (maybe of when Israel did bomb an oil storage depot, etc.)....... this thick black smoke is quite remarkable in appearance, not what we have seen in most war zone photos........ if we can find any other photos of this bombing site taken at approximately the same time we should have our answer.

Search the photo files of the first Gulf War. Remember, at Husseins orders, the oil fields were set on fire. You will see legitimate, black smoke fires.
