Blair delays holiday as fighting goes on

Tony Blair bowed to pressure yesterday and delayed his summer holiday to continue working with other world leaders in an "all-out effort" to secure a ceasefire in Lebanon. Downing Street said the Prime Minister, who was due to leave for Barbados, believed that the next few days would be "crucial''.

The violence continued unabated as Israel launched more than 150 air strikes and continued its cross-border ground offensive. Hizbollah rained rockets on northern Israel, killing three civilians.

France demanded an immediate halt to the fighting, while America said that other steps, including the deployment of peacekeepers, should be in place first.

The Prime Minister spoke by telephone to the French president, Jacques Chirac, and other world leaders.

The world wants to stop Israel from winning. No one would be calling or working for a ceasefire if it was Israel that was on the ropes.

This is stupid. Tony should have told anyone that objected to go screw themself and go on his vacation.
Besides. Big John Bolton will keep things cool for a few weeks , if not longer. There is not going to be any ceasefire,until there are no more Hisbollah to plead for a ceasefire.
As the French and US lay around and get drunk for a few weeks and exchange pleasantries the Israeli forces will continue to take the remaining Hisbollah forces out. Push them into northern Lebanon, and located those final very hard to find launching sites, where some goon could be sleeping under some outcroping on the side of a hill, and occasionally firing off a few rockets.
Forested hill sides are tough to spot every last rocket launching site. Likewise, cleverly concealed bunkers in mountainouse terrain are difficult to spot.
The IDF's need a few more weeks or more to locate and kill the hold outs, as well as make sure all infrastructure usefull to the Hissy is destroyed. Obvious at this point, they are keeping the lid on any Syrian/Iranian shipments come in by trucks from Syria.
The L/MSM continue with the usual cleverness to paint a picture that does not represent reality. Israel is taking Hesbollah apart on Israel's terms. And there is not a damn thing Hesbollah can do to alter the facts.
