An Indian state has banned the sale of soft drinks as the country's highest court told the US beverage giants Pepsico and Coca-Cola to reveal the ingredients of their products.
"The ban will be in force in all educational institutes, including medical and technical colleges and universities and offenders will be punished," a spokesman from the administration of northern Rajasthan state announced Friday.

You're just getting more and more asinine. You don't have arguments, and you won't argue facts.
By your twisted logic, if I sprayed an Indian import with a pesticide, our courts should ban all future imports from India.
That is patently absurd, but that's all you've got left in your pistol.
Pathetic.
>>Hmmmm another conspiracy theory.
Why would the high court even bother?<<
Its not really far fetched to suggest that suit against Coca Cola was brought to hurt Coca Cola.
Listen its YOU who are acting like a downright MORON and I have been tolerating your ad hominems for too long.
People dont inject pesticides inside the coke bottles before they drink it. Coke bottles comes as finished product from the factory. If the finished product comes with pesticides in them then they must be banned regardless of where they were imported from and how the pesticides got inside it. End of the argument.
It's not the end of the argument unless you admit that it is INDIAN water containing INDIAN pesticides from your precious INDIAN water supply which you will drink anyway.
It's only the end of the argument if you want to concede those obvious points.
Do something about your own water supply. You didn't put Coca Cola in charge of your own water safety, did you?
YOU are the one who wants to believe the lawsuit that started over caffeine being a harmful chemical. YOU are the one who defends protectionism using whatever means anyone can conjure up in that country.
Here's my little advice to you. Don't buy any foreign products. It will make you feel patriotic and superior.
But don't try to convince anyone that banning foreign products because of things you control and are the cause of is OUR fault.
We're not that stupid.
Look, genius, where do the Coke bottlers in India get their water? Norway?
I have no idea what the overall condition of Indian water supply is, but I doubt it's terrific. Maybe all the photos of people washing their clothes in the Ganges are fakes.
I'm repeating myself here, but here's the story of this story.
Someone, (we don't know who, but let's guess, perhaps a domestic producer of soft drinks?) brings a suit claiming caffeine and aspertame are dangerous chemicals in Coke and Pepsi.
Never mind that caffeine is consumed in massive quantities in other Indian beverages, and I assume aspertame is available as well. Where's the lawsuit against Sweet and Low?
That didn't work, so they attempted the pesticide angle. They got a private group to come up with some research. Not a government group, a private group. Who knows how they're funded or what their real agenda is.
Then this group found two judges who ordered the soft drink companies two months to reveal the recipe for their syrup.
They could have ordered tests of their syrup for pesticides, but no, they want the secret recipe. Now why is that?
It has nothing to do with pesticides. It has everything to do with the companies obvious refusal to provide that.
They know Pepsi and Coke won't do that which will force them out of the country. Just as originally intended.
I don't really care that you're kicking our products out of the country, but your stupid lies as to why you're doing it are just stupid.
In the meantime, have a BIG glass of water.
Pesticide-schmesticide. The play is jolly obvious. India has a protectionist market controled by a very few wealthy families. The market for soft drink in India is huge. Getting rid of foreign offerings like Coke and Pepsi creates a vaccuum: and Nature doth abhor a vaccuum. Step in a local Indian supplier with a product that is a reasonable facsimile. Voila! Problem solved!
Not a bad strategy, makes perfect sense to get rid of foreign quasi-monopolies if one is to have a marketplace well-protected against foreign competition. But it's not a position that can be dignified under the auspices of a "health issue."
Coke and Pepsi a pesticide/herbicide? C'mon! That's just not credible.
It's as credible as the Indian tricycles beating US tanks as was alleged upthread.

Y'all ought to be uplifting some of those three-wheel contraptions for use in the War on Terror. Fit 'em out with some lite armor and a machine-gun up front: they'd be great for roaring around the rubble and chasing down insurgents and raising all kinds of Merry Hell!
Heck, I'd even consider volunteering for that kind of duty...

...sorta like a Dr Seuss/Mad Max hybrid!

You need to take a logic course.
A He cannot be a non-He. A She is a non-He, so a He cannot be a She.
An It cannot be a non-It. A He is not an It, nor is a She an It. A He is a non-It and a She is a non-It. So an It cannot be a He nor a She.
There is such a thing as an action being correct, and an action being incorrect, something being right and something being wrong.
God says He wants us to follow HIS viewpoints, not ours, and then explains what those are, and we can apply them in any culture. He wants us to love Him with our whole heart and mind and love our neighbor as ourselves.
Because God is not an "it" or some non-personal force, He is involved in our lives. He did not just create the universe and then go away. He is loving, and merciful, and wise, and only can do what is ultimately right and good in all situations.
He raises up nations and He takes them down. He allows evil to continue to be used for His purposes. If people are rejecting Him, often when things get bad enough, they finally will turn to Him and repent. And then God does help them. When He blesses them, they forget, and go back into their sin, until something finally gets their attention. God uses all these aspects to try to bring us to a real relationship with Him, where we want to serve and love Him willingly.
God can choose to allow "compulsions of a group of people" to rise if they are righteous, or the opposite, rise as they persist in evil. He chooses how to run the world. He is all-knowing and all-wise, and His ultimate aim is to get sinful people to turn from their sin and turn to Him.
So within each nation/history/geography/perspective you mention, are humans, people created in His image, the people He loves. Because He is holy and cannot lie, He is faithful to keep His promises, and works to try to bring each individual in whatever their worldview is, to Him.
If they turn to Him, and have been in a "wrong" worldview, He works to change their hearts and minds first as individuals, to transform them and make them more like Him, and then they work within their nation to get rid of the evil and advance His good. "
Why would God want to..."
Because He is good and full of grace and truth. He IS love! And we should be thankful and turn to Him and His forgiveness offered in His Son Jesus' death for us, before our own time here is through, which moment we never know.
Read the Bible for yourself and find out!
"It's as credible as the Indian tricycles beating US tanks as was alleged upthread."
You got to get yourself a sense of humour and need to stop getting your panties in a wad everytime someone or something is claimed to be better then its American equivalent. And get over the attitude that everything about America and Americans have got to be the best ever (that includes shitty drinks). You got a big-time ego problem.
Why did they demand the recipe?
You chose not to answer that and called it a fairy tale. Of course, it's in the story, but never mind facts.
You drink your wonderful water in your house. It's better than mine, you say. Of course, in your next post you criticize me and other Americans for claiming that our stuff is the best ever.
What a hypocrite you are.
