UK refuses to extradite a Stalinist prosecutor to Poland
01.08.2006
Great Britain has refused to extradite a Polish Stalinist era prosecutor suspected of ordering an illegal arrest of 16 people, mainly Polish Home Army leaders and officers, including the legendary general August Fieldorf, later sentenced to death. Britain quoted humanitarian considerations to justify its decision.
Eighty seven year old Helena Wolinska was a military prosecutor between 1950 and 1953. She has lived in Britain since 1968. Poland has been striving for her extradition since 1999.
My point, maybe a tad too oblique, was that you responded to rightwingcrazy's complaint that Fieldorf made a generalization (all Jews were communists) with another generalization (all Poles were anti-semites)
It was funny that's all...
To generalize is human. It takes wisdom, though, to recognize when it is justified, when it is unjustifiably harmful, etc. And it takes decency to refrain from generalizing when these things are recognized. The world is full of unwise and indecent people, I guess.
That being said, it's hard to accept Britain's claims to a statute of limitations on murder. This whole bigotry thing just muddies the issue.
