People who cannot face this reality [our world on the brink of learning to love sharia law] love their ideology more than they love their lives or their country.

I don't think he missed anything. Right on the mark, which, unfortunately, is quite frightening.

the countries in which they seek shelter or conduct business or find support do not accept culpability for their actions.

This was supposed to change after 9/11. It's past time we held Lebanon accountable in this instance. They have 50,000 troops. Time for them to act on one side or the other, and be held accountable. And no choice is a choice.

"does anyone remember our 241 Marines slaughtered by these cowardly terrorists?

I do! Every day.

And what was America's response? Zero, zip, nothing, nada!
Ronald Reagan's biggest mistake!

"At some point govts will realize that we up against an implaccable foe, a genocidal group absolutely committed to our destruction. A group that cannot be appeased, reasoned with, or disuaded by anything but pure, brutal, relentless, overwhelming, force."

I am afraid you are right. It is beginning to look like the only solution will be to wipe these folks off the face of the Earth. The civilized world cannot allow these vermin to exist anywhere, or they just keep coming back like cockroaches.

When I was a child I used to wonder how ordinary German people could go along with the destructive Nazi regime. Now I know how "normal" people can ignore reality or delude themselves that their "reality" is correct.

Much of the world, most of Old Europe and half of ourselves have lost their way.

Islam will gladly find it for them.

VDH is one of the clearest and most far seeing of the chattering class, and I never fail to enjoy, or at least appreciate, his commentary.

His analysis is spot on. We are seeing two phenomenon. The first is as VDH sees the misplaced notion, however well intentioned, that violence is never the right response in any situation. Any right thinking person knows that the only proper response to a threat to life and limb is a violent reaction. Unless your religious conviction requires a pacifist response (which should disqualify someone from national leadership) your action to respond with adequate force to threat is injustice only to the aggressor, and is outweighed by the injustice done to those who will be the next victims of that same aggressor.

The other is pure politcal calculation. The vast majority of the politcal opposition and the MSM takes its stance not from a moral plane, they would have had similar responses had the situation landed in their laps-and have, but from the effort to reaquire power. Their efforts confuse and obfuscate the situation to the point where many people, from misplaced loyalty and other less principled beliefs, are forced into a moral relativism that demeans and weakens us as a nation and a civilization. They sicken and disgust me and I pray that their taint will not make a bad situation much, much worse.

As for the protection of police and politicians, most don't have much faith in them to begin with.

I have ultra-liberal acquantances (I have trouble calling them friends anymore) that still spout that lame sh*t about Bush being the world's biggest terrorist and that Jews run our country. I used to be amazed when I would hear it, now I am disgusted and can't stand to be around them anymore.

It is history repeating itself (as it always does). Perhaps you could take the following quote from this excellent article, change a few names, and ask the libs if they agree. If they do, then show them the original.

"... or the stump speeches by Charles Lindbergh (“Their [the Jews’] greatest danger to this country lies in their large ownership and influence in our motion pictures, our press, our radio, and our government”) or Father Coughlin (“Many people are beginning to wonder whom they should fear most — the Roosevelt-Churchill combination or the Hitler-Mussolini combination.”) ...

Precisely!
The inheritance of the left is Marxism in all its evil manifestations. Every plank of the Democrat party is found in the Communist Manifesto. Look it up.
It is Utopian, the fantasies of power mongers bent on the destruction of every shred of opposition to their madness.
It is fascism, the oppression of all forms of morality and especially of Judeo Christian culture.
It is consummate evil, the abolition of culture independent of official thuggery.
The enemy is the Democrat party, a once marginally corrupt political organization, now subsumed under the rubric of the destruction of Western civilization.
There is an absolute and inextricable link between islamofascism and liberalism. Both seek the destruction of the West. This Faustian bargain was struck in Berlin in the 30's and continues today in much the same form.
The Third Reich was, after all, a socialist democracy that abolished conservatism and especially cultural religion. With Stalin, Hitler instituted all of the same social policies that liberals seek today - abortion, pervasive removal of children from their parents, bans on political discourse in churches, and government regulation of every jot and tittle of daily life.
The enemy is among us. Only in the US is liberalism on the ropes. Their banshee-isms have become legendary. We must pray that their demise is imminent.

Victor Davis is right again as usual. We're on the eve of a World War. We avert our eyes and hold our heads down and hope we won't get burned. We already were. And its going to get a lot worse before it'll get better. It'll be a long while before Islamofascism gets spent.

Well done.

"..brink of moral insanity."

or it's moral bankruptcy... to continue down this path is insane and dangerous.. more dangerous than 1938.

I just transmitted this to a bunch of people. Some of them comservative, some liberal. The below is my comment I placed right after the paragraph about John Dingle.

(MY COMMENT: For those who support Democrats, this is beyond nauseating. You support a political party unwilling or unable to label a terrorist group evil or to side against them. A political song from the 60's use to ask 'How many deaths does it take to realize too many people have died?' Of course, that is when liberals protested against the Viet Nam war, American service men and women were evil, and it was okay to spit on them and call them baby killers! 40 years later, you support the same liberals who spat on your brother-in-arms and cannot side against evil. For the life of me, I cannot understand you. Please it explain it to me.)

I'll let you guys know if I get any responses.

It is amazing! I do not have a desire to hijack this thread, but I think of the disconnect of those who think Mel Gibson is the antiChrist for his drunken behavior and those who shoot missles at Israel and shout proclamations from the rooftops how they want them pushed into the sea. It boggles my mind.
