VDH is one of the clearest and most far seeing of the chattering class, and I never fail to enjoy, or at least appreciate, his commentary.

His analysis is spot on. We are seeing two phenomenon. The first is as VDH sees the misplaced notion, however well intentioned, that violence is never the right response in any situation. Any right thinking person knows that the only proper response to a threat to life and limb is a violent reaction. Unless your religious conviction requires a pacifist response (which should disqualify someone from national leadership) your action to respond with adequate force to threat is injustice only to the aggressor, and is outweighed by the injustice done to those who will be the next victims of that same aggressor.

The other is pure politcal calculation. The vast majority of the politcal opposition and the MSM takes its stance not from a moral plane, they would have had similar responses had the situation landed in their laps-and have, but from the effort to reaquire power. Their efforts confuse and obfuscate the situation to the point where many people, from misplaced loyalty and other less principled beliefs, are forced into a moral relativism that demeans and weakens us as a nation and a civilization. They sicken and disgust me and I pray that their taint will not make a bad situation much, much worse.

As for the protection of police and politicians, most don't have much faith in them to begin with.

I must respectfully disagree with you. The situation has landed in their laps many times and they have failed to respond. Jimmy Carter should have reduced Tehran to rubble back in 1979. He should have told thos maniacs they have until the Sixth Fleet arrives in the area to release those people. If not released, everyone will die, including the hostages. I know some of you balk at that, but look at where we are today. Clinton had many, many chances to do the same thing George Bush is doing today. But he rather get BJ's from Jewish Princesses than protect this country.

a moral relativism

Which has been programmed into the past 3-4 generations of our school children with the goal of the demSocialists of taking over the country and ruling - so blinded by their ambitions that they have not/do not recognize a far more lethal enemy has been creeping up behind them, and that the target is on their backs as well.

They think they will be hailed as friends by these barbarians...they are sadly - and may be fatally - mistaken
