Over the past day, IDF infantry, armored and engineering forces operated in southern Lebanon. The forces positioned themselves in the areas of Mis el Jabal, Mahibab Blida, Shihin, Rajmil and Majdal Zun, in the eastern part of southern Lebanon. At the same time, IDF forces established positions in the villages of Al Teibeh, Al Adeisa, Rab A-Tiltin, Aita a-Sha’ab and Maroun A-Ras and Bint Jbeil.

Rush commenting on military matters is sort of pointless, anyway. He has no experience and just likes to make comments.

I heard the interview with Bibi and have heard many of Rush's comments. I don't recall very many on military matters but I do recall very many comments along the lines of the media and PR effect of the war. Rush does indeed know the value of PR and the power of the media. I appreciated hearing his expertise in those areas.

That may make you the designated grown up!

Dave Clark Five or Rolling Stones? Did you have any of those bermuda shorts suits to wear to football games? Plaid kilts with pebbly knit sweaters?

seems that is Olmert's strategy for supressing the rocket fire - let Hizbullah fire them all into northern israel

"Lots of communications can be knocked out this way as well."

"You bet it can...but man is it a **tch to get back up."

I doubt an occupying force that doesn't intend to be there for a long time would rely on the communications grid of "the other side". It won't be Israel trying to get it back up. Knocking the enemy's power and communications out, or even just degrading them, is of great military value.

Up to 40 farmers hurt in IAF raid near Syria

Looks like the PR war is ramping up. Don't forget to consult your Newspeak dictionary (Lebanese version) for the definition of "40". It means 10, more or less.

Not sure how many have been destroyed though. They had 10,000 or so at the start. They've shot over 2000, and a bunch have been blown up in storage. Hard to know how many remain, how many have been resupplied.

But I really doubt that they have 8000 left. And the IDF and IAF have put some hurt on the numbers of people. I'm not one of those whose overly optimistic and saying Hez is on the ropes. But Hez has been hurt. And may they continue to be hurt.

And they haven't been able to fulfill most of their promises on destruction (hints at chem war, threats on Tel Aviv, threats on targets outside of Israel) yet. I'm not saying they can't, I'm saying they haven't. With so much agiprop out there, so much staging of fake atrocities, and claims of fake victories, we may have let the MSM make them MUCH taller than they are in our minds.

Every day they don't hammer back beyond the Israeli north is a day that erodes their ability to hammer back.

We will see what happens this evening.

LOL. Well, we've got news that it was either 25 or 40 and that it was a parking lot or a vegetable/fruit stand. And...that all were taken to Syria.

He said 40 casualties were taken to a hospital in Syria, because roads in Lebanon were cut off by Israeli airstrikes earlier Friday.

Betcha the casualties were Hezbos.

But of course! In my area those were called "winter shorts." I also had the kilts with the fringe and thesafety pin.

And we also had one year where big, fluffy mohair sweaters were the rage.

My senior year the Carnaby Street look hit, those mini-dresses with lace trim and small prints. I can still remember buying a Jonathan Logan dress at a department store with the astoundingly high price of $22.00!!! LOL!

Other fashion stuff from my high school years: madras plaids, wheat-colored Levis, tennis shoes worn with stockings, penny loafers, spaghetti strap dresses (banned by our Dean of Girls).

Well, that's my off-topic allotment for the day. Back to the war.

Good points, OldFriend, and I agree with you. Much as I hope Olmert stands firm with Israel's goals, the pressure on him is more than most people have ever had to endure.

The war the Israelis fought in 1967 against 3 Arab countries was an entirely different kind of war and there wasn't this sensitivity to civilian casualities, for a variety of reasons.

This is an entirely different kind of war and one we will see ourselves engage in on various fronts before our lifetimes are over. Mistakes will be made as we learn how to best defeat the jihadists.
