Summary of IDF operations against Hizbullah in Lebanon 3 Aug 2006
(Communicated by IDF Spokesman)
Over the past day, IDF infantry, armored and engineering forces operated in southern Lebanon. The forces positioned themselves in the areas of Mis el Jabal, Mahibab Blida, Shihin, Rajmil and Majdal Zun, in the eastern part of southern Lebanon. At the same time, IDF forces established positions in the villages of Al Teibeh, Al Adeisa, Rab A-Tiltin, Aita a-Shaab and Maroun A-Ras and Bint Jbeil.
Yesterday evening an IDF soldier was killed and four more were wounded in exchanges of fire in the village of Aita A-Shaab. An IDF soldier was severely wounded and two soldiers were lightly wounded in the village of Mahbib.
In fighting throughout the day, IDF forces killed approximately 35 armed Hizbullah terrorists, and wounded numerous other Hizbullah terrorists.
In the area of Bint Jbeil, IDF forces identified and destroyed a vehicle carrying a Hizbullah missile launcher. Additional weapons were discovered by the force, including 10 assault rifles in the area around the village of Sheihin.
During the night the IDF carried out more than 120 aerial attacks in Lebanon:
6 missile launchers, including launchers used for long-range attacks against Afula and Haifa.
35 Hizbullah buildings, storage facilities and headquarters
Areas used to launch rocket into Israel, and roads and bridges leading to those areas.
A vehicle identified transporting weapons.
obviously a rocket launching site
On a similar note, as I learn many of the screen names to gender, it reminds me of that scene in "Life of Brian", the public stoning for blasphemy.
They're all so young, and my heart aches when I see their faces and realize they're dead.
It makes me rail at the seeming futility of this war on terror, and I want everyone to take their marbles and go home...
Then I remember that this is a battle for our civilization that we HAVE to win, and I thank God for these brave sons who are willing to fight for us.

Up to 40 farmers hurt in IAF raid near Syria
An ISF missile slammed into farm workers loading vegetables into a refrigerator truck near the Lebanon-Syria border on Friday, killing or wounding as many as 40 people, the workers' foreman said.
The Lebanese and Kurdish farm laborers were in a field in a strip of no-man's land along the border, foreman Rabei al-Jabali said.
He said 40 casualties were taken to a hospital in Syria, because roads in Lebanon were cut off by Israeli airstrikes earlier Friday.

I'm sure if the Iranians are calling the shots, the ol' frat boy, casual days of hezbeetle are a long, distant memory. I believe they are in a better position than most think based upon the fact the homicide bombers have not been unleashed to work their brand of "fun" among the Israeli populace. Or they may just think they are in a better position than they are. Zealot is as zealot does.
Ah, the conspiracy theories abound.
'CNN alert: fruit stand and trucks bombed...' Yeah, the IAF already hit the baby milk factory.
Much as Blair has supported us in the WOT, I think we should support Olmert. Blair has been a steadfast ally, despite his very liberal leanings, and I think Olmert is doing a good job, despite his liberal leanings as well.
The war is about Israel's national survival, and I think that all sides of the aisle in Israel know this, which is why Netenyahu failed to take Rush's very ill-advised bait.
Rush commenting on military matters is sort of pointless, anyway. He has no experience and just likes to make comments.
At least I have the sense to know that I don't know a darn thing about miltary strategy and tactics, nor even what type of weaponry is being used. You will note I report things but never try to second guess the generals. There is a reason...I would make a total fool of myself.
Rush should refrain from commenting in that manner, for the exact same reason.

The soldiers in Iraq and around the world, *are* our sons and daughters.
Strange getting updates on behind the scenes info after one of my kids went camping with a buddy just back from the sandbox...
Hmmm... " do you think the people would actually be able to influence the Hiz, of which most of them are or tied to? "
Try turning that around. It doesn't "cut off the head", but it surely nicks the neck. (Think about the communications problems after Katrina!)
Somebody else may have said this too, I'm just now getting to this thread & running through it (on dial-up at home) B4 going to work.

Strange how satisfying that is, right?
It's the little things in life. lol I've got another day of errands, popping in here now and then.
Severely off-topic: After 29 years of being a mom, this is the first August I get to go by books for school for one of my kids! The joys of being a conservative hhippie mom! ;-)

Er, uh ...which used to link Beirut to northern Lebanon.
Good morning all.
Just catching up on all the 300+ posts. Thanks for all the updates.

Can anyone translate the words on the flag?
Olmert seems to be singing from the same page as Condi: "Peace is just around the corner". The problem with continually making predictions like this is that you start to look foolish when days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months. I'm afraid, at least for me, both Olmert and Condi have passed that threshold.
To paraphrase our gal Laura Ingraham and Yogi Berra: it is time to "Shut up and Fight" and "We'll know it's over when it's over".
