Our own national labs have been working to make ours as clean as possible, too. We can only do computer simulations to see how effective the changes are since Clinton put a prohibition on subterranean testing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You what is really sad - all those guys that knew anything about underground testing at the Nevada Test Site are either retired or dead. That is what is scary to me. We have lost all the people that knew "hands on." Computer simulation is great, but you have to test to make sure that your hypotheses are correct.
Hey, these guys really do have jobs.
1. Collecting rocks and bottles to throw
2. Sewing flags to burn
and by the looks of things in Lebanon, they might all get hired mixing cement when it's all said and done.
My guess is this has been in the works for a very long time.
It has a "go for broke" feeling about it lately. I think the Iranians will back off as will Syria. I think the Saudis and the Jordanians and the Egyptians have too much to lose.
But I don't really know. I do know I am not spoiling for nukes to fly unless it has to be and seems to me it may not have to be,,yet.
why bomb infrastucture that's very important? It's very important for "anyone" occupying the area IMHO. Has to be another line of logic behind this?
Why? It's important to Hez. 80% support Hez. Hez actually controls the country, like it or not. Hez use the roads, the communications, the electricity, the bridges for resupply and the rest of the infrastructure. Lebanon supports Hez or at least didn't lift a finger to stop them.
It's the same scenario as Afghanistan after we were attacked. We destroyed whatever the Taliban could use against us.
I don't think I heard of Lebanon going to the international community to beg for help in getting rid of Hezbollah. I don't recall any outrage over Hezbollah's infiltration and complete takeover of the south. Lebanon invited this organization into their government and made no attempt to insist that they disarm according the UNSC resolution 1559. Lebanon is therefore not the innocent entity many would have us believe. Lebanon's actions encouraged this act of war against the sovereign state of Israel and are paying the price now. It's finally happening that Arabs are being held accountable for their actions or inaction.
Bush is taking the correct approach to these out of control Arab nations who think their actions should have no consequences. We've been talking and negotiating for 60 years over Israel's right to exist, elevated terrorist leaders to head of state status, given peace prizes when no peace exists, given billions to crooked arab leadership (Arafat)and Israel is still a target for total destruction.
And that much of the world wants to continue the same old approach to the same old problem is absolutely insane.
A total wipeout is necessary and my only hope that it includes Syria and Iran. It's insane NOT to challenge those who wish to subject the civilized world to extinction.
If I were fighting for my very existence I think I'd do my best to destroy everything the enemy could use against me.
Iran is Persian not Arabic. Egypt and Jordan do not want Iran coming on their turf.
You're correct.
The Patriot system went through many, many, many upgrades since GW1.
Additionally, Israel also has our "new improved" Arrow system.
Churchill is supposed to have said that 'in war the truth is so precious it must be accompanied by a bodyguard of lies. Let us hope the Israeli plans have many bodyguards.
I know. Testing should be regular and on-going. I can only hope that anti-matter research is advancing rapidly. The USAF General in charge of the project was interviewed by one of the big San Francisco papers last year, but almost immediately shut all public access and came *this* close to disavowing ever even talking about it to begin with.
Wouldn't surprise me. Saw a picture caption earlier that said it supplies about 50% of Israel's electricity.
I know what you mean, I did watch CNN for maybe 15 minutes tonight, that was about all I could stand, and their reporting on the war is just dripping with contempt for Israel. That's all right, one day they will stand before Jesus and answer for it.
Hello,
How I hope you are right that the nukes won't fly. Should that happen, IMHO, this turns into a mess that would defy description.
In other words, we don't want to go there.
Glad to be here, MOgirl
Fox reporting a Fajar-5 missile shot at Tel-Aviv. Fell short or was shot down. Launcher destroyed.
Sorry if this has already been adressed as i'm just catching up on the thread, but Fox has gotten bad information, if this missile had a ballastic missile track that threatened TelAviv their would have been air raid sirens in TelAviv - but there were not, thus this missile was not aimed at TelAviv. If it was, there is no way Israel would not have sounded the air raid sirens, and If it was and Israeli radar failed to correctly identify the trajectory heading towards TelAviv then they may be in big trouble.
