That's one hell of a long district - going from the suburbs of Memphis all the way to the suburbs of Nashville.

That's a lot of driving and flying around.

That's OK. I had to learn a whole new language when we moved here from So. Calif.

Corker's money literally overwhelmed what any other candidate could possibly do.

Yup. Calls to mind P J O'Rouke's trinity of politics...

Money
Television
Bullshit

It looks like Corker has succeeded in buying the Republican nomination. It should have gone to Ed Bryant who would have made a distinguished and solidly conservative Senator. The only consolation is that in the general election Corker will spend millions dragging all of the Ford family's dirty linen across the TV screen.

All in all, a pretty sad evening.

I'm quite familiar with your posting history, and thus discount much of your analysis when you go into one of your all too frequent rants. A shame, you can often offer interesting election analysis, but then sometimes veer into a Gibson tirade quite far from the facts.

No doubt a strong conservative would be preferable, but there has also been signs that either of those 2 would lose in the general, so perhaps Corker winning may be a blessing in disguise. But what is done is done, and what matters now is whoever emerges vs. Democrat Ford.

A lot of people have been posting disappointment with the results, why am I singling out you? Because it drives me nuts to constantly read the whining "I'm quitting (again) because I didn't get my way" rants that is spammed here all too often. DU has nothing on FR when it comes to crybabies. Corker may have his flaws, but in the end it makes a hell of a difference in the direction of this country. Dangerous times with big decisions ahead, less than perfect will have to do rather than pious pouting that allows the Senate to get into dangerous hands. The Democrats would prefer we lose wars if it gets them into office. Why on earth would anyone with a lick of sense do anything that helps them gain power?

Slap yourself and try to put things in actual perspective.

Here is an exemplar of Bryant's problems. Corker is poaching a suburban Memphis county, with 4 of 23 precincts in:

Tipton	4/23
Bryant Corker Hill
1,096 1,624 152
37.98%	56.27% 5.27%

As an aside, it appears to be a rather embarrassing night for the H man.

Very true. In addition to his money, Corker's campaign isn't afraid to engage in a little mudslinging. I know some of the staff, and they're going to make the general election as bloody as humanly possible. Sit back and enjoy the next few months.

Unless something drastic happens, I see Corker winning this at 50% +- .5% But stranger things have happened. The thing about Van Hilleary being in the race is this: the ones that don't know what is going on vote for the name they heard the most. If it had been close, I think Bryant's name would have been heard enough to make the difference.

Calling someone a crybaby is not intelligent, rational posting. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Actually the 7th district goes all the way to the Kentucky border I think.

I like the numbers better on Nashville.gov/vote than y'all are posting from the Tennessean. 125 out of 173 precincts reporting. Isn't this looking like a runoff?

Bryant 6968 40.87%
Corker 7302 42.82%
Harrison 201 1.18%
Van Hillary 2580 15.13%
17051

LOL - the polls showed both Bryant and Van Hilleary doing better against Ford than Corker.

Yes, I am aware of Corker's shortcomings. This is TN's decision, I take no position regarding the primary, my interest is in relation to the general. Regardless of who wins the GOP primary, they need to be supported in the general, because it affects all of us.

Unlike most southern states, Tennessee doesn't have a runoff.

BC 8496 42.13%
TH 234 1.16%
VH 3079 15.27%

So are people in the Memphis area generally Titan fans, or are they still ticked about the NFL teasing them?
