WASHINGTON (UPI) -- Democrats are creating campaigns to win control of the U.S. House of Representatives because they say the national party leadership is inept, aides say.
U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., plans to ask lawmakers and donors to help fund a new voter-turnout program run by House Democrats, The Washington Post reports.
"I am not waiting for anyone anymore who said they were going to" build a turnout operation, Emanuel said. "It has got to be done."
He and other Democrats believe Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean has his priorities mixed up, Democratic aides tell the Post.
Dean says the party needs to rebuild its long-term infrastructure nationwide while at the same time trying to win the House and Senate. Emanuel and other congressional Democrats want to use party resources for an all-out push in the most competitive House and Senate races this fall.
Many Democrats consider the 2006 elections their best chance in a decade to recapture the House, with widespread unease over Iraq and with Republicans lagging in polls.

I think the Klintoon stooge (Rahm Emanuel) wants the DNC Chairman post....they've had it with the Deanie Weenie plan, and want to secure the House and Senate for the Hildabeast when she takes the POTUS job in 2008.

Of course the dinosaur media will now do a report on a "deeply divided" democratic party. Not.

I have to agree with old HD on this one... the DC crowd live in their own world, with all their incestuous connections with lobbyists and special interests and generic D.C. "clubbiness". We only hear from our reps when they want our $$$. I can't say that this is a bad strategy either. Most people I know are pretty disgusted with the federal government in general, so running as an outsider may give one an edge.
If the repubs had a "50-state" strategy, there'd be a strong repub. candidate in November's election for senate in Connecticut. If L-man loses, (and all signs point to yes, to quote the 8-ball), a strong repub would have a real chance. Instead, there's just a throwaway running. problem with the country in general is that there are too few real contested seats for congress, so these guys feel secure, and why bother working in the best interests of their constituents? Just go along with the system, and cash out into that nice consultancy job..

They should trust in Dean, he's doing a fine job. Let them spend all their time and money in Utah.

U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., plans to ask lawmakers and donors to help fund a new voter-turnout program run by House Democrats, The Washington Post reports. Will it involve more Democrats slashing the tires of "get out the vote" vans outside of GOP offices?

Go for it, Rahm!!!!
Every "Get Out The Vote" scheme the Democrats have ever devised and attempted to implement (Inclduing "Motor Voter")has blown up in your faces.
That why there's such a large Dem push to allow felons to vote. Which is also going over like a lead balloon!
Jack.

House Democrats
or
Howard Dean
To: 300magnum
Big time Dem contributors have to love this. They are basically being told that any monies they've given to the DNC in the past two years has been wasted, and if you want to make a difference for Democrats this year, you need to ante up to this new congressional organization that no one has ever heard of.
Other than T-H-A-T, though, no confusion in the ranks at all.
To: 300magnum
Don't laugh. This is just a slick way around the campaign laws. The Unions et al can spend as much as they want on "get out the vote" efforts.

"I have to agree with old HD on this one.." House Democrats or Howard Dean
haha!! Interesting ambiguity there.. didn't notice. It was Howard Dean.
I agreed with the "50-state" strategy. (I can't think of anything else I'd agree with Dean on). Again, if the Repubs were committed to running serious CONSERVATIVE candidates in every race, we'd be picking up at least one senate seat this year (Connecticut).

U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., He certainly is ill.
