Juan Williams: Mugged by Reality-outspoken left-wing commentator is being called a race traitor
FrontPageMagazine.com ^ | August 3, 2006 | Michael Reagan

Posted on 08/03/2006 8:34:38 AM PDT by SJackson

NPR and Fox News commentator Juan Williams is a certified liberal – so liberal some have called him the black Alan Colmes, the liberal half of Fox’s Hannity and Colmes. When he writes a book you’d expect the left-wing media to fall all over each other to be the first to review his book and have him as a guest on network radio and TV.

That hasn’t happened, however, because his book Enough: The Phony Leaders, Dead-End Movements, and Culture of Failure That Are Undermining Black America - and What We Can Do About It, has crossed the boundary of what is - and what is not - permitted by the high priests of liberal orthodoxy.

For this grievous offense he has been cast into the outer darkness reserved for conservatives and other patriotic Americans.

On my radio show the other night Juan told me how he has been silenced by the very liberals who have always clasped him to their bosoms. When I asked him if he’s been put on the "back burner" he said: “It’s not the back burner, but the burner itself that has disappeared. You just don’t get covered when you try to talk about what I consider to be central issues in terms of not just black America but all America. It’s part of American history, it’s part of the reality of the way we live, especially with increasing numbers of minorities in the American population, racial politics, drop-outs in schools, the fact that people talk about what’s going on with jails and all that.

“People just don’t want to talk about why we are in a grievous situation even now in the 21st century with regard to race and the kind of leadership we have on race.”

This is a tragedy. It is important that Juan Williams be heard loud and clear, and that his book should have the largest readership possible. Like Bill Cosby before him, Juan has looked his fellow blacks in the eye and told them the truth – a truth they must face if they are to overcome the obstacles that hold them back.

He deplores the incredible rate of illegitimate births among blacks – a staggering 70 percent of all black children are born out of wedlock. These children are deprived of a normal upbringing, of a family with the father present in the home.

So-called black leaders such as the Rev. Jesse Jackson and the Rev. Al Sharpton draw his scorn. Williams notes: “If you attack anybody who is designated by the white media as a black leader you are therefore attacking black America and blaming the victim and you’re not seeing the larger picture while you have real problems afoot in terms of educating black kids, in terms of watching black kids born out of wedlock into poverty in this country, in terms of watching what I consider a culture of failure where people don’t call to account...violence and sadistic rap music.”

“Nobody says let’s have a march against these drug dealers, let’s have a march against bad schools. You never hear that kind of talk.”

So Juan Williams sets out to tell the truth, writes a book about it, and he can’t get on liberal television, he can’t get on ABC, NBC, or CBS because they have sold out to these leaders of the black community picked by guilt-ridden white liberals. White leftists refuse to allow blacks to be individuals. They look at them only as a group. They have put them on their liberal white plantation where their hand-picked black taskmasters such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton rule the roost.

As Juan Williams has learned, anybody who shines the light of truth on this sordid arrangement will be barred from speaking about it. He is learning that you cannot go against the liberal Left's agenda even if you are a member of the liberal left.

It is said that a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged. Juan Williams is being mugged. He has important things to say to fellow blacks and to the America he loves. If the left wants to silence him, it’s up to conservatives to give him a platform where he can speak truth to liberal power.

Buy his book and mug a liberal.

Juan just doesn't seem like a very smart guy to me but this book is evidence that he's learning. Kudos to Krauthammer, Hume, Barnes et al. They've made real progress with him and kudos to Williams for recognizing facts when he sees them.

ONe of Williams sons is a republican...he went to work for a republican congressman as a dem, and then found he really agreed with the republican platform. I remember when Juan became worried about the democrats, because his mother thought George Bush seemed like a very nice man. Regardless, Juan is an old school lefty, who is about to learn what it means to go off the philisophical plantation.

If Juan Williams' views are "evolving," that's good news for the Republican Party. The day that there is real competition between the parties for the black vote is the day that the Democratic Party goes the way of the Whigs.

It has always amazed me that African Americans have quite oddly chosen the party of the KKK.

Agree. And it has always amazed me that when blacks refer to politicians who are "for" them, it is always in terms of social programs, welfare, and other transfer payments. If I were a black person, I would find that demeaning and insulting. But it seems pretty mainstream and accepted.

Image a white person calling another white person a "race traitor"? He would be finished politically and professionally and labeled a vile racist. But if you are a black liberal, then these terms are perfectly acceptable. Afterall, no self respecting black person would ever want to be accused of acting "white" or siding with a white person. I do enjoy watching Brit Hume turn Juan into a pinata every Sunday morning on "Fox News Sunday".

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

And that's the expression after a "Juan wacking"

About 2 years ago, Brit Hume interviewed Juan Williams, who had been absent from tv for months.

I wish I could remember the details better, but Juan told a story about how Jesse Jackson and his people had not only called Juan nasty racial names, but had threatened Williams, months earlier. That was an emotional turning point for Williams and he went on some sort hiatus or retreat right after that incident and started writing.

It was quite an interview, very personal and emotionally charged. Everything I've read about what he includes in this book, sounds just like what he said to Brit in that interview. He disappeared from the scene for little while after the interview, and then came back as a regular on FOX.

Booker T. Washington

"There is another class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs -- partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs."

OMG, this is a great quote. I had no idea he ever said that. That's what I call being on the cutting edge. Just curious, what approx. time frame would this quote have been made?

There was also a book a few years back written by an NBC guy about the prominence of the black athlete. He attempted to rationally discuss the "Jimmy The Greek" theory in depth.

A very few radio guys had him on, but most just ignored him. It's safer that way, which illustrates the true "chilling effect" of the politically correct mentality.

Welcome Juan, go join Mr Cosby in the pariah's corner.

We can only hope that Juan will become a vocal supporter of the REAL Rev. Jesse (Jesse Lee Peterson, that is). He started Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (BOND) a National non profit organization committed to Rebuilding the Family by Rebuilding the Man.

Keep hope alive!

"A poster on FR once called Juan Williams a crash test dummie for liberal talking points."

Excellent observation! Juan is a very nice, decent man. I like him but like almost every liberal I can think of he lets his emotions get in the way of reason. It amazes me sometimes how wrong he can be and how Britt Hume and Krauthammer just clobber with rational arguements which are totally lost on him. He is the very definition of a "well meaning" liberal. But he's a fine person and I hope his book sells well because he evidently has put his "well meaningness" to the proper use in it.

So who is "silencing him?" HOw many interviews did Juan get before his book came out? Just because you write a book doens't mean you have any "right" to be plastered over the airwaves.

I whole-heartedly agree with him though. What annoys me is the mindset that getting an education is being like whitey, or is nerdy or uncool. That goes for all races.

"Mara down when she lies....which is OFTEN....then she just says "yeah, yeah", and glosses over what lie she just said!!"

Lie??? I don't think Mara lies. I like her a lot. She's very thoughtful, professional and very self-confident yet you feel like she is very friendly. When she opines I don't feel like I am hearing democrat hack talking points.

" I wish they'd make the entire segment "panel time" and drop the interviews and person of the week spots."

Me too! The panel is my favorite segment on sll of Fox's programming. Second favorite is Greta. That woman is as smart as a whip!! And she is not a hack for either side. Those generals she always has as guest seem to really like her. I can't understand why her ratings are not better than they are, even though they are pretty good as it is. Go Greta you rock!!

Juan is a lib, and one of the hi-lights of FNS is when he gets slapped by Brit, et al. That said, he does support Condi, and Clarence Thomas. Tony and Brit have positive things to say about him.
