Million-dollar sports car totaled in rally for charity [Owner totals Ferrari Enzo]

MILFORD - Utah Highway Patrol troopers had blocked off part of a remote Millard County highway Wednesday so owners of exotic sports cars could slam on the gas pedal and leave those 65 mph speed limit signs in the dust.

Mercedes, Jaguars, Vipers, Porches and more were zipping along State Route 257 - all for charity - when the four-day Utah Fast Pass Road Rally took a dangerous turn.

Provo resident Richard Losee lost control of his $1.3 million Ferrari - which had been screaming along at close to 100 mph - and crashed 28 miles north of Milford in southwestern Utah.

I guess he'll have to buy 20 corvettes to replace it.

Seems like the only two Enzos imported to the U.S.A. have been demolished - the other one in L.A.

Maybe there are more than two, but not many more. Seems they tempt the drivers to overdo it.

Hmmm. "We're screaming along at 100 mph to raise money for troopers who have been killed by morons screaming along at 90 mph."

Will his insurance cover the loss do you think?

Love these western road rallies. Check out this record for 90 miles of Neveda road, in a Chrysler La Baron no less.

In order to buy an Enzo, you have to be a current owner of at least 1 Ferrari. You must also be well known to the dealer.

I'm glad someone else sees the irony in it. The guy would've been better off raffling the car off. I can imagine there'd be lots of people who'd take a chance on something like that. And it would still be in one piece.

There's a guy that owns an Enzo that does articles for Road & Track who is from Utah. I wonder if this is him? I'll have to check when I get home

100 mph is nothing. I get passed all the time by jackasses going at least 20 MPH faster than my 79.5 MPH. They are usually punk kids in BMW's and Escalades with New Jersey plates with ski racks heading to Vermont.

I've gone over 100 MPH in a go kart.

100 MPH is nothing for an enzo. Guy must be a real tard to have crashed at 100 MPH.

That's funny, my porch won't go over 65 no matter what I do. Maybe I should take down the porsche swing and see how it does then.
