Mr. Murtha, speaking yesterday at a Post-Gazette editorial board meeting, was asked if he favored a cease-fire in the campaign north of Israel's border.

"I think so," he said. "I think it would be very difficult to justify continuing on."

Referring to the Bush administration's position, he said: "You know, they say, 'Well, we want a long-term cease-fire.' It seems to me you start with a cease-fire, and then you try to work out the details long term. If you don't, and you continue to have heavy-handed military action -- and I support heavy-handed military action because it saves your own troops -- but it creates enemies, and that's the problem we have."

Enemies are created no matter what we do. So the best course is to kill them. That's the only way you diminish their numbers.

During the 90s when Clinton was doing NOTHING to stop Al Qaeda and supporting every Islamic cause celebre out there from helping them in the Balkans to trying to get Israel to surrender most of its territory to the Palestinians to Yasir Arafat nearly making a permanent resident at the White House, despite all this the 90s was Al Qaeda's recruiting heyday when they became more ferocious, powerful and numerous.

Cowering in front of these people does nothing to dissuade them. Only the CREDIBLE application of force will stop them in their tracks and give them pause. Of course Murtha's "Cease Fire" would apply only to Israel and not to Hezbollah/Hamas/PLO/Iran/Syria. This has been the left's tactic for years. The left gets Israel to declare a cease fire and the terrorists just keep on killing Israeli civilians. No wonder; ample evidence from independent and even leftists websites/organizations show that most of the Left supports terrorist organizations, dictators and revels in the death of Jewish civilians and soldiers (both US and Israeli).
