South Carolina: An Evening Honoring Rudy Giuliani
South Carolina Headlines ^ | 8/2/06

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - The SCGOP today announced "An Evening Honoring 'America's mayor,' Rudy Giuliani."  The South Carolina Republican Party will join House Speaker Bobby Harrell in hosting a reception honoring former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday, August 16 in Charleston.  The event will be held at Hibernian Hall from 7:30-9:00 p.m. to benefit the South Carolina Republican Party.

"We are excited and honored to have Mayor Giuliani visit South Carolina.  His steady leadership during crises and his record of accomplishment truly make him 'America's Mayor.'  He is an exceptional individual and I am proud to call him a fellow Republican," said Katon Dawson, South Carolina Republican Party Chairman.

Giuliani was elected in 1993 as the 107th Mayor of New York City.  As a Republican, his 1993 campaign focused on quality of life issues, crime reduction, economic development, and welfare reform.  Giuliani was reelected in 1997 by a wide margin.

As Mayor, Rudy Giuliani returned accountability to City government and improved the quality of life for all New Yorkers.  Under his leadership, overall crime fell 57% and murder was reduced 65%. Giuliani has enacted a record of over $2.5 billion in tax reductions and restored fiscal discipline to New York City turning a $2.3 billion dollar deficit into a multi-billion dollar surplus.  In 2001, Giuliani was named Time Magazine's Person of the Year for his leadership on and after the attacks on America on September 11th.

I am ashamed to say, but I voted third party in 1992 (For Ross Perot) and I got Bill Clinton. I'll never do that again!

As at now he is sitting pretty comfortably as far as 2008 is concerned.

Dream on.

After observing what Ray Nagin did as Mayor of New Orleans during Katrina, I consider Giuliani's action during 9/11 as heroic by comparison at the least.

How dare you call attention to the fact that some Freepers act like 10 yr olds. Now I'm going to go sit in a corner and hold my breath till you apologize! Where's my banky? :-)

"Giuliani's pernicious social views will either kill his nomination chances, "

Rudy is probably going to sweep most of the primaries in the north east, as well as the West Coast, and at least win as many delegates as McCain in the heartland and the south.
McCain has pissed off conservatives so much, he is even behind in the polls to a less conservative Rudy, amongst conervatives.
And he can't pick up delegates here in the North East to make it up either.
He is not in a very happy position.

My comments about the "Gay Pride Parade Honors" is true, and not some made up conspiracy, or childish/immature behavior on my part.

Giuliani not only endorsed the biologically disfunctional to hold a "pride" parade, but rode and took honors from it.

Would you like more pictures like these?

Freepers acting like 10 year olds? I don't think so.

On this post we have Rudy haters, and a stab at Goldwater, who started the whole conservative revolution. Conservatives should remember Barry's advise that government should stay out of our pockets and bedrooms.
Rudy would be an excellent leader. Rudy haters ignore his conservative policies and RESULTS. He may be liberal on some social issues. These issues matter little to Presidential power.

I would never vote for him as President or even Governor of NY. I think he made a great mayor considering what he had to work with in NY and the already existing draconian unamerican unconstitutional laws of NYC. I also think he would also be an improvement as a Senator from NYS.

as a wake up call to conservatives, having Bill Clinton as president was a good thing. Look at what happened to Congress and the Senate because of him.

I held my nose and voted for Bush senior in '92 and I feel like I sold out.

"Dream on."

Someone is dreaming alright, but it sure is not me.
I have solid figures to back me up.
You have hot air.

FYI . . . You're about the 20th person I've posed that question to who couldn't come up with a real, concrete answer.

I won't believe that SC will go for Rudy in the primary unless I see it with my own eyes. We southerners don't really go in for presidents who support homosexual special privileges, homo marriage, partial birth abortion, outlawing guns, or any of the far left's other socio-political goals for the US.

Rudy's gun-grabbing tendencies are enough to doom his chances in most of the southern and border states even without mentioning his other leftist positions. Add the homosexual "rights" and pro-abortion baggage and he's a non starter IMHO.

You remind me of the stories about the New Yorkers who were convinced that Gore would win because "no one they even knew voted for Bush" Are you a New Yorker?
