Egypt has deployed 1,300 civilian police officers to beef up security – currently 750 Egyptian border guards - along the Gaza-Egypt border over fears Palestinian militants might attempt to breach the frontier, Egyptian officials said on Monday. Egypt fears the gunmen
could try to forcibly enter Egypt to assist stranded Palestinians in returning to the Gaza Strip.
The Egyptian sources said the militants at the border in Gaza were angry because the crossing -- expected to be open on Saturday and Sunday -- opened for only a single day. Last month Hamas gunmen blew a six-meter (20-foot) hole in the Gaza-Egypt border wall. (Reuters)
We are certainly not having a peaceful summer, are we? From the Middle East to Asia and in between, it's all a hot bed of conflict.
The whole world has gone mad it seems.
I find it interesting that regular folks, i.e., those who do not closely track current topical events, are finally voicing this sentiment.
