Ok, maybe you misinterpreted my initial post. I was saying that most people have been giving me the "gas is affordable argument." I don't agree. Sorry if I misinterpreted your initial response to my first post as well.

BANG! Bullseye!

When heating oil hits $3.00, $3.50, $4.00 _a gallon_, watch for this issue to "heat up" quickly. Especially for working folks without lots of disposable income or old folks on fixed incomes.

The Republicans better have an "explanation" to offer for the financial hurt that many will endure, because the 'rats are gonna jump right in and try to kill us with this issue. The Democrats will promise "to do something". It makes no difference that there is nothing of substance behind the Democratic curtain; this has the potential to knock the Pubbies out of power, right into the cold.

There has been little in the way of "explanations" offered so far (yes, yes, I already _know_ "it's the market at work"; but try selling that to the electorate, to the guy in the street who's wondering where the $$ is coming from to pay the heating oil company).

Having said that, I don't really think this is going to be a good year to be a Republican candidate....
(and btw, I will never, NEVER, N-E-V-E-R vote Democratic again)
