I would think that a totalitarian government could be extremely functional and efficient. Democracy is extremely messy and inefficient. But I'll take it every time! Betcha the Cuban people would too once they get a taste of freedom and liberty.

The US has no such intentions (for now). Besides, I understand that Karl Rove is on vacation this week. That means it is highly unlikely that he will name Fidel's successor until next week at the earliest.
