TEHRAN, Iran - Anti-U.S. leaders Hugo Chávez of Venezuela and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met in Tehran on Saturday, pledging mutual support for one another, state media reported.
Chávez's two-day visit came as Iran faces renewed international criticism for its nuclear program and as a backer of Hezbollah guerrillas engaged in fighting with Israel since they captured two Israeli soldiers on July 12.
The five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council on Friday reached a deal on a resolution that would give Iran until the end of August to suspend uranium enrichment or face the threat of economic and diplomatic sanctions.
Following talks, Chávez pledged that his country would ''stay by Iran at any time and under any condition,'' state television reported.

We can hope that Mexico doesn't join that group if Obragore manages to overturn the election.
How much worse can Mexico get? For years, they have been sending us their huddled masses to suck us dry and drugs to destroy our will.
Hugo is a very dangerous man. Lets hope he doesn't become the next Castro and isn't a thorn in ourside for half a century.
Actually, this latest move was, in the long run, dumb for Chavez - he's got a lot of pissed off Catholics in his country who are quiet now, but probably won't be in the future - people who view Islam with disdain (to say the least). He'll bring about his own downfall.
I think you're right!
"Here, our duty is clear. We should unite and save humanity and get rid of the American empire," said Chavez, who was speaking alongside his fellow anti-American leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.Ahmadinejad, who has previously called for Israel to be "wiped off the map" or relocated outside the Middle East, said in his speech that Israel was a "fake, illegitimate and usurper" state.
He also said that it was Britain and the United States who were to blame.
"Britain, the planner of this sinister regime, and the US, the unconditional supporter of this regime, are both responsible," he fumed.
