Israeli Officers Slam Air Halt
Jerusalem Post ^ | July 31, 2006 | YAAKOV KATZ

Posted on 07/30/2006 11:34:43 PM PDT by John Carey

Israel agreed to a 48-hour suspension of aerial activity over southern Lebanon a day after nearly 60 civilians were killed in the southern Lebanese village of Qana.

The cessation went into effect at 2 a.m. on Monday morning.

Senior officers in the northern command crizitezed the decision claiming it hurts the momentum that ground forces had achieved against Hizbullah in soutern Lebanon.

The officers said the decision had taken them by "complete surprise." Some noted that they first heard of the suspension by journalists.

Of course, we can count on Hezbollah to respect the same and stop firing rockets into Israel, right? Right?

The only people who care about this thing are the worthless Euro-dhimmis who can't do a thing to stop it anyways.

Political correctness is going to be the death of Israel, the US, and the free western world.

The islamics are foaming at the mouth at how easy this is going to be.

Ultimately, one side will win and one side will lose. The only question is will it happen in our lifetime.

73% of Palestinian's supported suicide attacks against USA in Nov. 2000 poll

I don't recall when non-moslem children are killed, if the moslems ever ask for a cease-fire, in fact the usual response is cheering in the streets.

Hopefully Israel will use this to their advantage by letting the enemy feel a sense of safety, then hit them harder than ever.

Or maybe, just maybe Israel will use this to launch an attack against Iran.

Now that - would be worth the halt in momentum.

I can not imagine any good coming of this 48 hour cease fire. Someone tell me please that I am wrong, for I really want to be. I started to study Islam about ten years ago and I see no good in it, and it is not something that can be trusted, except by a fool, I think. That has been my conclusion.

Israel has to be running a bit short of munitions by now.

While it will allow Hezbollah to regroup a bit, it will also allow Israel to rearm.

My theory is that since the hezzies now have longer range missles they will regroup farther north and continue from there, thereby giving their "allies" more opportunity to continue the propaganda war against Israel by claiming it is systematically leveling Leb.

Just like Vietnam. Allow the enemy to reorganize. Israel will pay a price for this.

Not really.

I'm sure we are shipping them whatever ordinance they need right now.

The US is looking for some major payback against Hezbollah and will be more than willing to keep Israel supplied with whatever they need to keep this up.

Political correctness is a lie and it will cost more lives in a restrained war. Israel don't cave!

It's maddness. Apparently the Islamofacist have learned the ropes of using the liberal propaganda machine.

Yes, but the bombs we're shipping them have all been by air - which is the least efficient way to deliver bombs (other than to their target.)

The most efficient way to ship bombs is by ship, then by train, followed by trucks. Air is a far distant fourth.

Unless we're mounting a far greater aerial resupply effort than it appears we are, Israel needs a couple of days to replenish the armories. (Note: this only applies to bombs. Israel appears to have an endless supply of missiles for its helicopters.)

It is such a blunder. All Hez has to do is blow up a bunch of their people and make it look like Israel. This will guarantee them a cease fire or bombing halt in the future.

Here is one possible good point. Perhaps the Israelis are running out of Hezbollha air targets. They have probably hit over 3,000 by now and must go after those hard to get at targets. Perhaps they are using this airstrike halt to regain the initiative, retool and fully engage. This possible scenario would be enhanced if Hezbollha violates the Israeli Airstrike Halt. Something tells me the Israelis already know how Hezbollha will react.

That's the problem! Our Dept of State and the UN has been shipping Israel too many ordinances, and not enough ordnance.

I see two possible explanations for this:
  1. Lebanese PM refused Condi Rice an audience without an unconditional cease-fire
  2. All the yellow dots on the Israeli military sitrep boards just turned red (after Lebanese military units fired upon Israeli helicopters)
So Lebanese PM has a 48 hour reprieve to make good on his insolence to Rice, while the Israeli's purge and reprogram their military systems of the old playbook, and code in the new rules. In the meantime, I'd not be the least suprised if Olmert is sending some diplomatic back-channel messages sort of like:

"WTF?!?!? You dirty stinkin' little weasle. What's the meaning of firing on our helicopters? So far we'be been nice to you. You have no idea of the meaning of full frontal assault, not yet you don't. You think 60 civilians and one collapsed building is bad, you'd better think again. You wanted a cease-fire? You have one. It would be in your best interests to negotiate now, while you still can, as our patience can not be guaranteed, and will not last."

If that ain't it, I haven't a clue.
