What is interesting right this very hour is...that Condi has just gotten to the White House to meet with President Bush.
Since she left Israel...and landed in the USA..the Israeli Security council has voted on further attacks...land and aerial...and are NOT going for any cease fire.
Also...Syria is talking about upping their military readiness...
SOOOOOOO..considering Condi made a speech in Israel...saying that "we" hoped to broker a ceasefire by the end of this week...just a little while before Olmert himself said "no way"..
What do we speculate is being said in THAT meeting right this minute???
THAT meeting COULD end up being one of the more important meetings between those two so far.
And the repudiation of the international force by Lebanon and Syria both...
For example, was Condi's statement what she thought, or was it something she needed to say in order to let the moderate Arabs know that Israel is operating independently? Di Omert lie to her, change his mind, or operate according to an agreed-to script?
And that's just those two. When you add in the media, the lower-level state department weenies, the liberals in the Israeli government, etc. there are just too many variables to make any speculation productive.
Interesting analysis, Txsleuth. I wonder if the whole thing was a sham. That way the White House could say, "Hey, we tried, I guess Israel is tired of the incessant terror.."
I think most of what we're hearing is deliberate disinfo.
