Corresponds to what we've all known for some time now, doesn't it.
I thought it was interesting that unlike Jonathan (and some of the folks at other networks) Greg made it quite clear (in what he was saying and how he was saying it...as well in what he was NOT saying and doing) that they were walking a fine line in trying to let us see the lies Hezbollah is trying to 'sell' but also trying to report it so we realize that there is FAR more to the story.
And really, at this point, as long as they are still in the country (where Hezbollah is surely watching them even if it's not a Hezbollah strong area) or wanting to go back into the country, that they still have to watch their words...and so not until they are out can they say otherwise (and actually, it probably puts the local crews they all use and any other network reporters under even more scrutiny for the future).
I'd imagine for folks like Greg, who obviously aren't buying the story (which I'm not sure is true of JH and others) that they struggle with what to do... Is it better to be in there and tell us the story with the Hezbollah slant so we can see what's being said, or not let us see it at all, or only see it from people who ARE buying the story.
I agree with those of you who have noticed that there have been some days that it's been extremely obvious in Greg's behavior and tone that he was trying to communicate something without saying it. I'd imagine "watched closely" could be an understatement.
Another of my friends had been in Lebanon for quite awhile (not the ones that were stuck when this all broke out...this friend has been back in the US for quite awhile) and I know that this person found out the hard way they were being watched by Hezbollah and Syrian folks (this was prior to the events last year after Hariri was killed). They found out very clearly that if you were skeptical of them (Hezbollah and the Syrian army) and what THEY were doing, that they would do everything within their power (which they had far more of at that point than they even do now) to make things VERY uncomfortable for them.
And this wasn't someone with a video camera and the power to expose to much of the world any of the stunts Hezbollah is trying to pull now.......
So I'd suspect someone like a media person with this platform has 'enjoyed' a very 'friendly' meeting with Hez and some things were said about what Hez may or may not do if they (the media) don't do as they request.
That's the part of me that's glad there are some people like Greg who don't want the story only told by some of the CNN folks and ones like Jonathan that either really buy it or else are too afraid to show that things are 'off'...so they'll put up with the flack they get back home in order to be there and show the events as they are 'supposed' to portray it, while also making it so blatant that they are being fed this stuff.
I am assuming she will be at Al Udeid Air Base. When she was home for the Fourth, we practiced shooting. Told her not to be off base without being armed LOL. She said they don't leave base so that is good to know.
