I loove that story! I have heard that expression all of my life, but I had never heard the story - nor have I taken time to see what I would get if I googled it.
I don't get MTP until later, but I wanted to read on FR how Timmy treated the Ambassador. I wondered whether Timmy would even let Gillerman talk. I knew he would have his mad pouty face on whenever this classy, classy man spoke up with the truth that is so obvious.
Gillerman said that they have video this morning on MTP.
The sad fact is that Israel is viewed as something of a pariah in most of the world. The US has stood alone in its support of Israel. We have used the veto numerous times in the UN to prevent resolutions against Israel including the most recent one on Lebanon. The UK abstained and Russia, France, Greece, China, and Japan voted for it. The head of the EU issued a condemnation of Israel for its "disproportionate" response.
Did he forget where the hezzies got their rockets and other military hardware, most certainly was trucked through Syria just like sadaams WMD's. Syria is just another little chickenshot nation too scared to really do anything in the light of day.
Thanks EC, you are a tremendous attribute here as well. Your work is much appreciated.
Absolutely great response from Bill Kristol. I find him annoying sometimes too (ok, frequently), but on this subject he is toe on the mark.
The day the first microphone was shoved in front of the first "expert" and turned on.
It got worse when they added cameras.
France has a historical relationship with the region. Lebanon was essentially a French colony. French is the second language in Lebanon. Beirut used to be called the Paris of the Middle East. The Lebanese would welcome their presence and participation. As long as Israel has a secure border, why would they care about how it was achieved?
About the only thing I still like about bor is what he does about Jessica's Law. He has just become too pompous for me. I love it when he has the Fox economics guys on, and they laugh at him and his lack of knowledge about economics - but he still does not get it. bor has become the issue - he thinks that he is always right - and don't dare disagree with him.
Brilliant post here snugs. Everyone should commit these lines to memory. We will be using this as a basis for many years to come.
What BS.
Unlike the terrorists, the Israelis have been very precise
and avoided civilian causalties.
Less than 1% of Beirut has been hit.
The black in the maps is what the Israelis have taken out.
The MSM focuses on the same buildings over and over.
Off to church now - catch up with y'all later.
Oh no, Juan and his "why has our policy been all along not to talk to anybody." The liberal answer to everything...talk to them and all will be well. I think that will work only if you have a gun pointed right at their heads. And then they'll just lie until you put the gun away. Juan is so worried about "inflaming" the Arab street (that damn phrase is back again). They've been raised from the cradle to hate us and the Jews. Taking action merely gives them an excuse to act out more publicly.
That's what I referred to in the last sentence of #145.
Sounds like the NPR newsbabe actually gets it.
That's why I responded the way I did in post #189.
, Does he think that people will still pay attention to his blather about hate W all the time. That's just too old a story tom to continue being front page news even in the Slimes.
Aside from all that you have to wonder how Friedman thinks you can legitimately make peace treaties that you know will be violated with people you know hate your guts, any logic there? I don't think so.
Agendas of course.
