Recently, the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, Inc. (MCDC), and our fiduciary accountability has been called into question in reports in the Washington Times newspaper. Its editors continue to misrepresent the facts and have purposely based their reports and editorials on information that is inaccurate.
They continue in their attempt to hold us to a different and improperly applied fiduciary standard than any other non-profit in the country. Jerry Seper and Wes Pruden seem not to understand the first, most basic matters of non-profit accounting and regulatory obligation. Further, Pruden absurdly describes Sepers reporting as careful, rigorous when Seper has not spoken to at least two of his three sources on this matter in over a year, and he and his editors deliberately failed to disclose in their innuendos regarding where our money is spent, that tens of thousands of dollars was spent on full-page issues advocacy advertising in the Washington Times itself.
A year ago, people called us racists and vigilantes. We have overcome those falsehoods with an organizational performance of diligence, responsibility and excellent stewardship of the resources entrusted to us by our supporters and volunteers. Our careful spending and high standards in the field, combined with the generosity and faithfulness of our citizen patriot supporters, have allowed us to grow rapidly and effectively, consistent with our mission. This has been accomplished, in part, by aggressive advertising and outreach to people across the country, putting a spotlight on the state of lawlessness at our wide-open borders which our government continues to tolerate......."[snip]

Please don't anyone call the Washington Times a liberal newspaper.
I don't know what the truth is here, but when the Wash. Times says it, my ears perk up.
I'm a long time subscriber to their national edition and it is very, very good.
The Washington Times is not a liberal newspaper.
The whole world is lying, except Simcox, of course.
I'll say this for him: he must be really worried; his response time is shorter.
It has been that way from the beginning. Gilchrist and many others have gotten away from him. He has to do what he can to rescue fundraising. American Caging and the rest don't work for free.
I bet American caging is getting a lot more attention than it wants.

Lol!
I doubt that anyone is actually embezzling the funds. That's not the issue. The issue is: where's the fence? People sent their money in expecting to get a fence. But there is no fence. Instead there's "aggressive advertising and outreach [read: direct-mail fundraising] to people across the country." If this were just getting started, we could have some sympathy for all these protestations of innocence. But now that they've raised a million dollars, it's reasonable to ask, "Hey, what about the fence?" MCDC appears to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of a large advertising, PR, and fundraising firm. Perhaps it should not surprise us that what they appear to be doing with the money is advertising, PR, and fundraising. But somewhere along the line, they owe the people who donated a fence. And not that stupid barbed-wire livestock fence they put up for some rancher. Freepers know from experience (whose name was Larry Klayman) that these outfits can chew up 85 or 90 cents of every donation dollar on salaries, overhead, and fundraising, leaving very little for the actual cause that people were donating to. It's true that Simcox doesn't have to show anybody his books until the 990 is due, but until he does, people have to wonder — given the advertising-to-fence ratio we've seen so far — what the deal is here. People thought they were getting a fence, not the next Judicial Watch. |

Oops, forgot the link to Carole Keeton Strayhorn, TX Comptroller of Public Accounts (Window on State Government site):

You are right Simcox needs to give an accounting, not a dodge.
In any event his evasions will damage fundraising so he will
pay that way.
Nah, Howler, the whole world is lying except for you. You rule.
Open borders means no country.
That's it; when you have nothing to offer, a personal insult will do.
It's not my fault Simcox is being by questioned by everybody, including honest Minutemen.
Absolutely!!!
These groups can only "prosper" when people act as nonthinking dupes, reacting "Pavlovian" like to the red meat that they typically spew out, just barking/donating on que.

Thanks for the ping. I think there is a key difference between Judicial Watch and Simcox - namely, that many current Simcox supporters on FR and elsewhere have said that if Simcox does not meet the November 15th deadline, there will be hell to pay. But apparently waiting less than four months is too much to ask for some. Nor is bothering to deal with inconvenient facts such as the current heat along the border and the regulatory obstacles fencing has faced, such as that by Cochise County. Best to get the attacks in now, lest Simcox produce the reports in November and take away the hammer before they can use it on him.
