The theme of this Saturday's Dose is "Lampoon the Media." In that spirit, you might find this exchange between White House Press Secretary Tony Snow and Helen Thomas amusing.
MR. SNOW: Hello, welcome. Busy day. Helen, I'd like to see you afterward. No, you're not in trouble. I just have a favor I'd like to ask.
Q Why? (Laughter.)
MR. SNOW: You'll find out. A very busy day here at the White House. The President, as you know --
Q What is it?
MR. SNOW: I'm sorry, what?
Q You might as well tell all of us.
MR. SNOW: You'll find out. Life is full of surprises.
No word on what "favor" Tony wanted to ask of Helen, but we probably all can imagine. ;-)
This weekend ohioWfan (and two other female FReepers) are doing the Singles thread (on the subject of marriage). Please consider stopping by and saying, "Hi" to her. Here's the link -- it's a three-day thread that runs Friday evening through Sunday: Singles thread

PHOTO OF THE DAY: There is no single photo of the day today, but a photo essay instead:
That fool, David Gregory, is seated over there to my left [lower left corner]. I'm not even gonna look his way.

Gregory, you can't be serious...asking a stupid question like that! How did they ever let you graduate from J school?

Oh, no! What the heck are you talkin' about, bub? You question must have been written by a mouse caught in a maze.

Even Tony is surprised by your stupidity.

I'm looking out over a sea of moronic faces, knowing they've prepared questions even a third grader would be embarrassed to ask, and they expect me to take them seriously?

We make a pretty good team, you and I.
You and I, together forever,
You and I.
Through the years
Of dark and fair weather,
You and I.
You and I. (From the musical "Meet Me In St. Louis," song "You and I," words and lyrics written by Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown.)

GWB TO STAFF: Make sure you obey my order to close the White House mess to the media today. Hehehehehe...

So they have to pay for their own eats for one day. Won't hurt 'em. Save the taxpayers a few hundred. And that's a good thing.

In a week or so, I'm goin' home to Texas...and I know how much the press corps will enjoy sitting in the sun down there. Hehehehehe...

A better photo than the one on yesterday's Dose: President Bush addresses the 2006 Boys and Girls Nation delegates in the East Room of the White House yesterday.
