If the Israeli objective is to stop the missiles they are failing miserably. What is the strategy - let Hizbullah fire their entire arsenal off then they will have none left - mission accomplished. Rocket fire could be very easily stemmed if Israel had just invaded and controlled southern lebanon. The IAF and IDF arty just take too long to respond, these guys shoot and scoot. A ton of boots on the ground would a) refocus Hizbullah's attention b) allow the IDF to cordon and seal off launch areas.
I wouldn't be surprised to find out in years to come about how many heated arguments there have been behind the scenes in Israel.

IF (a big if) the Israel's plan is to go town to town and supress it like they've supresseed Bent Jbail then i am totally in favor of the operation. But at this pace it would take months to quell southern lebanon but months Israel hath not.
The only problem with that is they are not stopping the rockets.I also think that Rice is going to put a lot of pressure on Israel to have a cease fire.
What did he say? He's been quiet.

This is a quote from a Haaretz article regarding the pull out from Bent Jbail and is also probably a lie.
If you look at the areas targeted today they are primarily northern Israeli towns being hit with 12 mile range Kaytushas. Kaytushas fired from bwtn the Litani and Zahrani would land in southern lebanon. Unless someone starts reporting those Israeli towns are being hit with the longer range rockets that quote cannot be true

Trying to apply a conventional hammer to an asymmetrical problem has gotten it butt handed it every time it been tired. All the terrorists do in response to you blitzkrieg attack, that they know they cannot beat, is hide in the civilian undergrowth or fade back to their sanctuary zones while bleeding the attack force with mine warfare, ambushes and snipers.
This type of war is like pushing on an air mattress. Push hard and the mattress dents and billows away from where it is pushed. Then when the arm gets tired and cannot continue to push at that spot anymore and is removed, the mattress simply resumes its original shape.
This "hurry up and smash everything" doctrine is utterly ridiculous in dealing with a guerrilla war threat. The Terrorists simply get out of the way until your offensive is over then slide right back when you have to redeploy.
The reason you "don't see it", I think, is you simply don't WANT to deal with reality that your pet theories on this are simply unworkable nonsense. I suspect you have a partisan political beef with the Olmert sympathizers which is why you are so hyper critical of anything they are doing. It appears you are simply insisting on riding your pet dogma down in flames rather then consider any alternative strategies.
