Longtime Crawford resident Bobby D. Ramsey sold a little more than five acres to Gerald T. Fonseca, a New Orleans native who said he was displaced by Hurricane Katrina last fall. Fonseca was in Crawford along with hundreds of other war protesters when the hurricane destroyed his home Aug. 29.
Fonseca, who identifies himself as a Vietnam veteran and a member of Veterans for Peace, had been living more recently in Eagle Rock, Mo., with relatives. He has been in Crawford the past four weeks, staying at the Crawford Peace House.
While Fonsecas name is on the deed as the lands new owner, Sheehans protest group will use the property for this years Camp Casey, the peace camp named for Sheehans son, Casey Sheehan, a 24-year-old Fort Hood soldier killed in Iraq in 2004.
In September, Fonseca said, ownership of the land will be transferred to Sheehan.

(Fonseca) said he was going to build a home and, one day, a shop (on the land), Ramsey said Thursday, speaking from his adjacent property in Crawford. He told me that Katrina wiped him out.. . . . It didnt even occur to me that he could use it for this.
Fonseca confirmed he never indicated to his new neighbors that the land would be transferred to Sheehan, but he said that was always the plan. He said the $52,500 used to pay for the property a spread of rustic, wooded prairie with no houses came from Sheehan and her Gold Star Families for Peace.
Fonseca said he acted as an agent for Sheehan, negotiating the purchase and closing the deal with Ramsey.

Nothing good can come of this.
So is the fellow responsible for any violence that his peace people commit or promote while on his property???
So she will have to pay income tax on the gift ?
Mecca for unwashed communists, mouth-breathing interlekshurls, and violent pacifists.
I believe sales as an undisclosed agent for real estate can be voided.
But if the guy paid $52K for scrubland out there, he was taken. It's typically more like $2-3K/acre, I think.
Sounds to me like this could be illegal. Wonder if someone will take her to task on this. But I wish this lady would just go away.
I think she has a crush on Bush, a stalker like crush.
(Go Israel, Go! Slap 'Em Down Hezbullies.)
I would hate being her neighbor but I would be calling the cops on them every chance I got.
"On her Web site, Sheehan said she was enthusiastic about the new Crawford site because the peace movement had outgrown sites used last year, and we needed to move on to bigger property.
HUH??? as much as the MSM loves her, they certainly didn't show many people attending last years protest..
by the way, can't the previous owner of the property claim fraud in the sale, return the money and maintain control of the property? might be a dumb question, but I don't know..
It would be ironic if oil were to suddenly burst out from underneath the property.
I'd like to see how Sheehan and her liberal friends dealt with the temptation to make money.
I was just thinking. They wanted this law. The city could now take it for a park or something. She paid high value. They only have to pay what it is worth and her buying it may have already lowered the original value. They could probably get it back for...25K?
Already Consenca has had to ask permission from neighbors to have power run across thier properties to have power, they have said NO.
From the sounds of the real estate agent who sold the property, none of the locals are happy about the deal including the frauded agent.
The residents and business in Crawford can sure make things unpleasant for them to be there. I know if I had a business there I'd refuse her and everyone associated with her service.
I would bet you that he has nothing and is therefore judgement proof. She has assets and would not be. I would expect that she would not take a transfer of the land. I have my doubts that the money used for the purchase was actually hers, but that is pure speculation. If it was hers, and she doesn't get title to the land, the money is just gone. Lots of issues here.
You think the property might be on a pipeline right-of-way? It would be easy to spot the markers.
She needs to get on with her life. Casey would have never approved of all this. You can't protest a war at a presidential ranch and put an end to all war. At this point she is just a nutcase. It is sad. She is making a fool of herself. She should put this behind her, like my Grandma did when her first son was killed in WWII. Time to move on Cindy.
The judge today seemed to think that the purchase was legal. If however the buyer got a discount on the land by misrepresenting himself he could be in some legal trouble but not CS.
