As a conservative, who WANTS conservatives to be elected, ANY help we can get in that department is FINE with me. Such is the nature of politics!

By the way have you ever NOTICED, that the guilty Pubs confess immediately, are tried, convicted and jailed in no time at all, but Dims either SKATE [think Cynthia or Sandyman] or delay trials FOREVER like Jefferson.

Tom Delay IMHO is innocent and I believe he will win, if it does indeed go to trial.

Jefferson OTOH is ON TAPE accepting a bribe.

Put at risk does not equate to could not win.

Put at risk

Resign ! !

Attempt to be declared ineligble

It all adds up. DeLay is toast.

As an American who wants men of character in positions of authority, I'd rather have Jefferson out now.

"It is not a good thing for corrupt Congressmen (whether Democrat or not) to remain in the House."

What about a perjuring chief exec? One who could have been eligible for charges of selling state secrets?

<< What do you think of Duke Cunningham or Bob Ney? >>

We conservatives do not think of them at all.

Unlike the "Democrats," we do not circle our wagons around recidivist rapists, co-rapists, crooks and the corrupt.

They are beneath even our contempt.

I would like to see Delay win if he has to run, rather than any Democrat. If he does withdraw people would still be correct in saying he never lost an election. I am sure that your opinion is very important to yourself but my speculation on this matter is as good as yours is. BTW how do you know what I would say if he withdraws?

Your statement is inaccurate. Witness the Republicans circling the wagons around DeLay.

You stated that DeLay has never lost an election. My position is that statement is devoid of meaning. Particularly if DeLay withdraws (which is very likely). If DeLay withdraws, he still would have never lost an election, but Nick Lampson would be the Congressman from TX22.

I would have preferred that DeLay lost the Republican primary and that the Republican primary winner became the next Congressman from TX22. It was not worth DeLay winning the primary only in order to make the claim that DeLay never lost an election.

This ruling does not help Jefferson that much. Giving him copies of what was seized would appear to be prudent and commonplace. It is surprising that there would have to be a Court order to do it since it would appear to me to be part of discovery for the defense.

The election got rid of Tom DeLay!

If you call winning the primary "getting rid of" the winner, then yes, the election "got rid of" DeLay.

No. I'm talking about DeLay's fear of losing to Lampson in the general election as "getting rid" of DeLay. It is obvious that DeLay has made it clear to the RPT that he will not mount a vigorous campaign. That's why the RPT is filing the no-chance appeal to the SCOTUS.

<< Your statement is "inaccurate." Witness the Republicans circling the wagons around (former congressman) DeLay. >>

If your statement had any truth to it it would but demonstrate the exception to prove the rule.

But it has no truth, Mr DeLay has been found guilty of nothing and has in any case been removed from the Congress.

Pretty impressive circling of the wagons, eh??

I see. I agree. I would much like to see the seat remain Republican no matter who wins it. I certainly do not want to see Lampson win.

What is your obsession with Tom DeLay? I think you have a problem....even starting to sound like you are another, "I used to be a Conservative, Supply-Sider, barf, barf, barf..know what I mean?
If I was as obsessed with crooks in politics, I don't think I would concentrate on DeLay, I would look where it proliferates, the Left side of the poli-spectrum, that is a target rich environment for petty political thieves!!

Other way around. The judge knows he's going to need heat in the winter and AC in the summer or he'll have to work at home.

You guys make me laugh ~ a "representative from the government" would be, of course, a member of Congress and a judge.

How dare you assert Executive supremacy in this matter. The English killed King Charles of England over this sort of thing.

Subsequently the Executive has been subordinate to the Parliament or Congress.

And, if it were you or I "in Congress" and "in a Congressional office" the Executive would not dare send the jackboots down to ransack our stuff ~ period ~ if this were still a representative Republic.

The story at the top of the thread says this whole business was "precedental".

I think when it's all over and the Supreme Court has spoken, there are some Fibbies who are going to find their butts in the slammer!

Doesn't let Jefferson off the hook, but get real ~ these guys violated a standard even George Washington wouldn't have dreamed of violating.

I tell you, the psychological profile for FBI agents has gotten screwed up in recent times. It focuses entirely too much on fascist inclination, and FAVORS THEM.

Your glee at the discomfort of a blackman is incredibly apparant. We didn't see you out there acting this way about Represenative Cunningham or a couple of others getting indicted/convicted for gross corruption this last year.

It wasn't legally obtained. Never in the history of the Republic had a judge been asked to issue a warrant for a search of a Congressionally controlled office without the approval or request of the Speaker of the House and/or the Senate Majority leader.

NEVER!!!!

That's because such a thing is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Jerk ~ you are misrepresenting the argument. The same law applies to Congressmen that applies to you and I, but those laws DO NOT APPLY to the precincts of Congress, nor to legislative papers.

It's that simple.

Now, quit misrepresenting the argument or just drop out of these threads.
