I think Bush meant "we" in the sense of the UN countries...but, I may be wrong.
Question is, who DOESN'T want a Pali State. I think if we're to be pragmatic, we need to realize it'll happen at some point. Who wants to occupy them indefintitely. Cut the ties and let them prosper (lol) or suffer on their own.
This makes me so angry. They are going to STOP Israel from winning this war. ONCE AGAIN
Blair: Government of Lebanon need to be in control of their own country. If we can turn what's a catastrophe to achieve such a thing, then we can turn a tragedy into opportunity.
?: With the support of Arab population for violence is there a risk that every day without ceasefire there will be a wider war? Does Rice have new instructions to meet with Syria?
Bush: Her instructions are to meet with Lebanon and Israel.
It's really important for people to understand that the terrorists are trying to stop the advance of freedom and it's essential that we do what's right and not necessarily what's immediatel ypopular. Lot of suffering in Lebanon. Because Hezbollah attacked Israel, militant Hamas trying to stop advance of freedom. Suffering in Iraq because sectarian violence trying to stop freedom. People everywhere need hope. We have a plan to deal with the immediate crisis and that's why the PM came - to talk about that plan.
When people are reaching out to each other, violence follows and AQ steps up its efforts to stop democracy. People in ME must understand we're working to create hope. Challenge of the 21st Century.
Blair: Obvious what the strategy of terrorism is. Their strategy is to commit acts of outrage and on the backs of outrage to mobilize extreme elements so even moderate people are drawn to their cause. You're right - Arab street gets drawn to the cause.
I fail to see the tragedy that they keep talking about. Israel is kicking the terrorists butt. Where is the tragedy in that???
Rubbish. Same crap about "Palestine".
Fiction that the Lebanese government has any say in anything.
Meaningless because the words don't match reality.
From the President you can see both that he gets the truth and, unfortunately, that he is again falling into Blair's trap.
I don't think ALL countries...but, you may be right.
I must state here...I have ZERO faith in the UN..and I think that President Bush does also...but, he is playing along..now that he has the BEST Amb., in John Bolton.
I would bet that Congress will have something to say also.
Reporters GAG - talking about poor innocent Lebanon.
?: Plan to rebuild houses in Lebanon. When are you going to tell the Israelis to stop destroying houses? And Mr. Blair - don't you want Israel to win this war, not stop it.
"1)Secy Rice going to region again tomorrow"
That means Israel has got 24 hours to release the hounds of hell and wreck as much h*ll to the Hezbollah infrastructure as possible. Go ahead and push to invade the southern half, where they will be sitting in the catbird seat during negotations. Might as well start the ceasefire while occupying a zone on Lebanon's side, rather than pulling bac. this is a moment not to be wasted.
From what I'm reading on this thread this whole event seems like a "feel good" job for the media. As far as your quesitons about rebuilding, we rebuilt Europe and Japan after WWII and they probably didn't "deserve" it either. Nothing new, but it makes the media feel warm and fuzzy when they hear these things.
Exactly.
Yes. Yes. "President Bush will be seeking a UN resolution to bring peace to the region..."LOL!!!
They represent, unfortunately, most of the world's perception on the issue.
Bush: Hezbollah is backed by Iran and encouraged by Iran. The temptation is to say it's too tough, let's just get it off the tv screens.
Who cares about warm and fuzzy. We are fighting the battle of our lives against a bunch of religious FREAKS that want us all dead.
Forget warm and fuzzy and let's talk REALITY.
Bush is now talking reality.
