From what I'm reading on this thread this whole event seems like a "feel good" job for the media. As far as your quesitons about rebuilding, we rebuilt Europe and Japan after WWII and they probably didn't "deserve" it either. Nothing new, but it makes the media feel warm and fuzzy when they hear these things.
Who cares about warm and fuzzy. We are fighting the battle of our lives against a bunch of religious FREAKS that want us all dead.
