What are you more worried about, a politician losing his job or ruining the economy? My guess is that you have more compassion for the politician.

If, in winning the election, we become what we oppose, what do we 'win'?
It's only recently that our legislative branches have been played as an all or nothing game.

Nonsense.
Raising wages without raising productivity is simply inflationary and will raise prices for everyone. The ones hurt most by your socialist thinking are those whom you claim to want to help.
Liberalism always generates the exact opposite of it's stated intent. ~~~ Quinn's first law.

Doesn't matter. Forget I mentioned it.

I think you're right. The intent was to prompt some critical thinking into one of the many unintended, (maybe intended?), consequences of a minimum wage.
To: Hydroshock
So some will be hurt? Which ones?

I seriously doubt a quarter and hour raise will do that.

That's a 5% raise. Will they suddenly become 5% more productive?

Scope out the news on other threads posted about this today. The republicans are trying to link minimum wage increases to tax cuts and the dem have said they will block any pay increase for congress unless we get a minimum wage increase a lot higher then what I propose. Reading the tea leafs in this election year it is a done deal.
Now only if we could get them to put drilling in ANWAR on this as well.

Reading the tea leafs in this election year it is a done deal. What's a done deal? A minimum wage hike with a tax cut? A pay hike, minimum wage hike and a tax cut? Or none of the above?
You still haven't explained how raising the minimum increases productivity.

It does not and that is not the point. It never is. The minimum wage is been the same for about 9 years adn many, myself included think it is past tiem for an increase. Productivity is not in this equation.

Productivity is not in this equation. And that's why it's a stupid, socialist idea. But then, I repeat myself.

We will ahv eto agree to disagree on this. But it is mute since I think we will see an increase in the next few weeks for the reasons I have mentioned.

And the total of the political situation in this country does nto revolve around just money either. I take on this is many want it and it is an election year.
