A Public Advocate for the United States
The Washington Times ^ | July 28, 2006 | Alan Dershowitz

Posted on 07/28/2006 1:48:53 AM PDT by srmorton

As a liberal Democrat, I listened carefully to the opposition voiced by many Democratic senators to the nomination of John Bolton as our chief representative to the United Nations. Mr. Bolton has been representing us at the United Nations since August. During the current Middle East crisis, I have been able to listen for myself to what Mr. Bolton has been saying at the United Nations. On the basis of his performance, I have become a Bolton supporter.

Although it's not the first time I have agreed with Alan Dershowitz, I have never agreed with him more than I do with this excellent op-ed piece. Hillary and Schumer should read it before they decide how to vote on John Bolton's confirmation.

A liberal Democrat with a functioning brain cell! Imagine that!

Good article, but will the Democrats listen to reason?

This only amplifies how downright ignorant John Kerry, Joe Biden, Barbara Boxer, et al really are.

Bolton was great wasn't he? If Kerry wasn't such a weasel, you could almost feel sorry for him. Not a chance, too sinister. The dhimmicrats were completely out of their league. Cartoon: NY Sun

All I have to say is

"GO JOHN BOLTON"

He is exactly what the UN needed and his presence will make a change. Although I personally think the UN is worthless I think John Bolton may make a change and improve the value of it. (somewhat)

My condolences on your pair. I don't need to bother my two (Chambliss & Isakson) on this one, I know without checking where they stand, and it's where we want them to stand.

I hope Mr. Bolton stays as God help us if Clinton ever shows his face.

Step back and take a look at the whole situation and you'll see that it's Dershowitz agreeing with you, not you agreeing with him.

He's finally seen what we've all known about Bolton.

I know where the two Democrats I have here in Maryland stand. Babs Mikulski and Sarbanes stand wherever Fat Ted tells then to stand.

As a liberal Democrat

Admitting that Alan is about like admitting you have some kind of contagious disease.

Dershowitz surprised me after 9/11, when he came out in favor of torturing terrorists if they were involved in mass murder.

It's because Bolton is an advocate for the United States that he is so reviled by the demonats.

The Dersh may be a liberal Massachusetts Jew, but he knows and understands what this WOT is all about.

I hope he has enough pull to drag others along with him.

And Dersh always had a sense of humor, often laughing at himself.

We need Bolton in the Senate. Any chance? What state does he call home?

At one time I thought Alan Dershowitz was so far left that there was little that I could agree with him on. Now when I compare him with the average dimocrat, he seems to be a beacon of truth and intelligence. It is not that Alan has changed his positions, it is simply that the the dimocrat party has continued to slide farther and farther toward pure communistic socialism.

Hillary and Schumer are not MY Senators, thank God! I just mentioned them because I had just read an article that said they were wavering on voting for him because it looks like he has enough votes to be confirmed anyway. Those two will do what is politically most expedient for them, no matter if John Bolton is a fine man who has done an outstanding job at the UN.

I am from NC and my Senators are Elizabeth Dole and Richard Burr - both firmly on the side of John Bolton. I am still thanking God that "the Breck Girl" is no longer representing NC, making us look as if we are dumb enough to be fooled by a pretty face.

Yeah, good work on getting rid of him, just as we did well getting rid of Cleland.
