The Glover Tape Caught in the Act of Innocence

JPFO began our campaign to "Boot the BATFE" (www.jpfo.org/bootbatfe.htm) in January of 2005. The instigating factor was a tape we received, a tape that indisputably showed BATFE agents attempting to frame an innocent gun owner, John Glover.

That tape -- which we promptly copied and began distributing as _BATFE Fails the Test_ (www.jpfo.org/batfevideo.htm) -- was something the BATFE _never_ intended you to see. Thanks to it, the charges against Glover were dropped and all but one of his firearms returned.

Eighteen months later, we offer you something else the BATFE was hoping wouldn't get out: John Glover's story, straight from the mouth of his attorney. Go to www.jpfo.org/hw-glover.pdf to read "The Glover Tape: Caught in the Act of Innocence" by H.M. Whitesides.

You owe it to yourself to read this article and gain more insight into the criminal activities of the BATFE. Once you've read it, and once you've seen the video, you'll have a better understanding on why we consider it so critical to finish production on _The Gang_ (www.jpfo.org/thegang.htm).

We've interviewed Mr. Whitesides for _The Gang_ and the information he offers could be worth _thousands_ of dollars to you if you ever have the misfortune of dealing with the BATFE.

Please, read the article. Watch the video. And then, donate to _The Gang_. This rogue agency must be abolished, and you can help make it happen.

I joined the NRA. They subsequently started mailing or calling on an extremely frequent basis trying to get me to contribute more money. Needless to say, after my membership expired, I didn't re-up. Without a doubt, they ended up in the red trying to get me to give more money than they would have if they had just left me alone.

If this case had been prosecuted then that would mean any person is possession of a semi-automatic rifle could be prosecuted for having a "machine gun." I have yet to own or fire a semi-auto that could not be made to fire full auto without modification.

I've had the same experience with both the NRA and the Republican National Committee.....

JPFO is listed as an educational group while the NRA-ILA is a lobbying group. The NRA is involved with sixty court cases from their legal defense fund at the moment. They also were the ones involved with the Katrina and San Francisco lawsuits.

While others complain of the NRA mailings, others are writing checks to keep up the fight.

I hope you'll reconsider your membership in the NRA. Please consider the following:

Fact Sheets: What Is The Gun Lobby?

NRA, ILA And The NRA Political Victory Fund

The Institute receives some funding from NRA member dues, but its main source of revenue is derived from member contributions designated for legislative activity. ILA is not associated with any firearms or ammunition manufacturers.

All NRA members know the benefits they receive from being part of the pre-eminent grassroots lobbying organization in America. At the same time, many are unaware of some of the important regulations and restrictions that govern NRA’s legislative and political activities, particularly those relating to the segregated nature of fund-raising activities.

The fund-raising that sustains NRA’s legislative activities is conducted by ILA. Federal and many state election laws dictate that funds used to assist candidates for office must be raised separately, and that is the task of NRA’s political action committee—the NRA Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF). Neither NRA member dues nor contributions to ILA can be used directly for the election or defeat of candidates.

Because of these clearly defined parameters, and because only a small fraction of ILA’s operating budget comes from regular NRA membership dues, both ILA and NRA-PVF must continuously raise the funds needed to sustain NRA’s legislative and political activities. The resources expended in these arenas come from the generous contributions of NRA members—above and beyond their regular dues.

While NRA doesn’t expect every member to contribute to every fund-raising mailing, the mailers do double as legislative alerts, providing important information that empowers members to take specific actions: calling lawmakers, writing letters or completing and returning postcards. Sending solicitations periodically allows NRA to keep its members informed on the issues and threats gun owners face, while attempting to accommodate individual member budgets.

Raising the tens of millions of dollars needed every year to defend Second Amendment rights is no small task. But, in order for NRA to meet the challenges gun owners face head on in the legislative and political arenas, it is a necessity.

Consider the fact that George Soros, Michael Bloomberg, The Brady Campaign, and a host of others are putting up large sums of money to fund anti-gun measures and anti-gun politicians at the local, state, and federal levels; how do you expect to preserve your right to keep and bear arms without a group such as the NRA-ILA fighting against these enemies of the Second Amendment? Make no mistake, it take lots of money to fight these battles. And as Shooter 2.5 pointed out, there are many battles being fought on many different fronts.

I've only been an NRA member since February and while I haven't been able to contribute to every campaign, I have received four sets of ILA postcards to sign and send in; the latest set are addressed to my senators and representative and ask for their support in passing H.R. 5092 - The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BAFTE) Modernization and Reform Act of 2006. The postcards came with a four page letter detailing the abuses of BATFE and NRA-ILA's response. I have sent in my postcards and made a donation to this campaign.

Now, you can argue that folks should write their own letters to their senators and representatives, and I do that; however, I also sign and mail the NRA-ILA postcards. When a large number of NRA members send in their postcards, it sends a strong unifying message to our elected officials.

Not true, Bush did not clean out the ATF and make them hire new people. I am not placing the blame on any one administration, they are all guilty. What needs to happen is the next administration needs to do just that and then direct the new employees what is acceptable, no more BS.

It is Bush's BATFE. They are carrying out his administration's policy.
