The GOP needs to hear this loud and clear: if you nominate McCain millions of conservatives will stay home or vote for a third party.
And don't tell us that we will then elect Hillary. We know. We got through four years of Carter we'll get through four years of Hillary.

Just remember though - its not the GOP that nominates him, its the primary voters. We need to be JUST as motivated and proactive this primary season as we were in the general 2000 and 2004 elections. If we get McCain, it will be our own fault, but even that idiot would be a step better than Hitlery.
Still, I can imagine a lot of conservative voters staying home or voting third party in that case, which makes Hitlery even more likely, and I sure as heck don't want to have to wake up to another 4 or 8 years of "President Clinton".
I'm down for Hillary. Bring it on! If we're going to become the USSA I'd rather the witch bring it. She's more likely to get us past the "awkward stage" more quickly.

So can't you also get through 4 years of McCain? I wouldn't exactly say we got through 8 years of Hillary's husband which I notice you left of the list. He left the nation vulnerable to 9-11, caused high gas prices by over-regulation of gas and created 30 different fuel blends as well as vetoed drilling in ANWR and left the nation in recession. And I need not remind you of the scandal of the month club the Clintons brought to the White House. Sorry, McCain isn't a dream candidate but I'm not ready for the Clintons to bring back into the White House trailing corruption, mendacity and every Hollywood liberal you can name. I might not think he's the best the GOP can do, but I'll take McCain over the scenario of unbridled liberalism, arrogance and corruption which is the hallmark of Clintonian governance any day.
That article linked on National Reviews doesn't mention anything about McCain being involved in blocking Haynes and only mentions Goober Lindsey Graham. Do we know that in fact McCain is involved? And give me more than just "He's pulling Graham's strings." I'd really like to know if McCain is on record opposing this nomination. It's a fair question to ask and also fair to demand that if McCain really isn't involved he not be lumped in with Camera Whore Graham. If McCain is truly on record being against this, then shame on him. But I want more than assumptions.

JK: Not soon. And they are two separate cases. In one case, we've got just a couple of Republican Senators who are holding the nomination up, and I don't know...and this is in the case of Haynes, whether or not they're going to relent. If they do...

Fair enough, but it this an assumption that McCain is behind Graham's opposition or is he really on record opposing it? That's what I want to know. So far I've not seen that he is based on that National Review article. I'll do a Google search and report back.
It would be worse for the country. The GOP would be armtwisted to go along with their RINO president (for appearances of party unity) just as they have been with some of Bush's bad ideas. With Hitlery, we'd have GOP majorities in both houses that would resist whatever she wanted to pass.
Granted, she could still sign executive orders out of her ample wazoo and the media will treat her like the second coming of Christ but, seriously, four years of President McCain would devistate the GOP and possibly split it in ways that would insure sustain Democratic control.
McCain must NEVER be allowed to be president. Never. No way no how will I ever vote for him. Any effort to encourage me to vote for him would be a complete waste of breath.

What guarantee do you have we'll have a GOP Congress during a Hillary presidency?? I just don't understand cutting off one's nose to spite one's face. Sorry, but after the treason and evil of the Democratic party these last 6 years, there is no way I will refuse to support ANY Republican candidate, no matter how off the reservation they may be at times and allow those demonic beasts back in power. You really should not be so complacent about what a Hillary or Democrat being back in power will mean.
You talk about RINOs, but how can we count these same RINOs won't go along with much of what Hillary will try to do, especially during her honeymoon period when it is considered bad form to oppose a newly elected president?? I just don't think you can count on GOP obstruction of a Hillary agenda. Hell, Newt Gingrich in his last couple years as speaker was being dazzled by Billy Jeff into going along with all his big spending and other idiotic proposals.
And you might check out McCain's firm stance on reducing spending, deficits, pork spending and staying the course on Iraq and in the War on Terror. McCain has been out front on opposing wasteful spending and earmarks and even voted AGAINST Bush's Medicare Drug Plan. This to me more than the nomination of one judge are the most important things I'll be voting on next time, spending and security. I might not like everywhere McCain is on the issues, but he's right on these. I can live with him especially if the alternative is the Clinton corruption machine being back in the White House.
Actually, it's the absolutists who would rather take an empty plate than half a loaf who will blow it in 08. Anyway, go ahead and enable Hillary to waltz into the White House. I plan on being right here on Free Republic to listen to you bitch and moan about every second of the 8 years of it. But in the end, I'm not worried. A few of you will sit it out but independent and swing voters will vote for McCain in droves and more than make up for a few who'd rather cut off their nose to spite their face.
