BOLTON HEARING LIVE ON C-SPAN 3
Dodd tries to prove that Bolton tried to get some guy fired (for lying, by the way). Bolton proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that he did not want that, did not do that, and put a stop personally to the effort to do that. Bolton 10...Dudd 0
Dudd just got bitch-slapped again.
D- "Who wrote the letter, you, the staff..?"
B - "The staff."
D - "Did you review the letters?"
B - "Of course. That's why they weren't sent."
Straight, to the point, in charge. Go Bolton!
Bolton: All of the EU countries voted with us.
Coleman: So you're being trashed but everyone voted with us. I was listening to protestors and reflecting if we asked them to cite a single statement or action of Bolton they objected to, I doubt they could do it. Their objection is to US policy.
Norman.. what the heck are you saying..
We don't always agree with this administration, that is just what the left want to hear.
Norm Coleman up...spanking libs!
More accurate than my summary. Thanks!
The Dems may let Bolton pass this time. I can't imagine why they would want to make National Security front page news right before the fall election. I hope they fillibuster him and let Republicans call them cowards for the nest month, but it would surprise me.
(Perhaps one day I will learn not underestimate their stupidity.)
Norm has been rather disappointing at times, IMHO>
It was lovely. Simply superb.
Bolton: Helms-Biden is an arrangements where we paid back arrearage becauseof Congressional withholdings in exchange for lowering our assessed share.
Coleman: So Congress played hardball. Looking at UN reform, would it be fair to say that many folks at the UN don't think there's a political will to hold back and do what we did with Helms-Biden to achieve reform?
Bolton: Many have the attitude that this too shall pass.
He has been disappointing..but he's doing ok here. I didn't care for his disagreement "with administration" statement but at least he showed that UN dysfunction isn't a new phenomonen:)
Yup, and I won't be the only one who'll be black-&-blue because of all the THUDding.
Bolton: Think I'm the first rep to meet with UN staff union; they represent the people who will be whistleblowers and they think the office and regulations are weak so that was disturbing.
Interesting that Bolton has met with the UN staff union.
Didn't they vote "no confidence" in Kofi last year or so?
Rasmussen Poll: Allen 50%; Webb 39%
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1673198/posts
New thread has a Rasmussen poll showing Allen with 50% and Webb with 30 something.
Coleman: Any kind of leverage we have to make mandate review happen?
Bolton: It's very important that the countries in NY know that Congress is acutely interested in reform and not just the administration or yours truly.
Coleman: Helms-Biden threat of using financial leverage was critical leverage.
Bolton: No doubt about it and I've had personal experience with that.
Coleman: Your impressions of the UN. Is there any change in your impression?
Bolton: Not really.
Coleman: I don't know if that's good or bad.
Bolton: There's a lot of work to do.
HAAaaaaaaaa...Coleman: Any surpises in the last year at the Un?
Bolton: Not really.
I can't figure Norm out. Sometimes I want to cheer him and othe times I want to throttle him.
