As part of a broad push from corporate America to diversify the profession, law firms are stepping up outreach to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) attorneys, a group the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) dubs "the invisible bar."
Among the 20 law firms with the highest percentage of openly gay and lesbian attorneys in 2005, these lawyers averaged just 3.2 percent of firm staff, according to The National Law Journal's (NLJ) annual survey of the nation's 250 largest law firms.
Only five of the nation's 20 largest firms reported numbers of openly gay and lesbian attorneys. Within those firms, only 1.8 percent of lawyers were openly gay or lesbian.

No Barf Alert?
Most homosexuals are too busy being homosexuals to contribute much in the way of professional accomplishments.
Love ya!
Being an attorney is a screwy occupation. And perverted, as well.
I'll bet that the ACLU has the highest percentage of homosexual and lesbian lawyers
Did you bump your head before you wrote that?
What you said was BULLSH*T.
Remember, diversity is only good if it is diversity within the "left wing community." Including Conservatives in any group is not considered diversity by leftists, but rather "verboten." Thats their concept of tolerance.
What he said was spot on.
Nope. But I've been around for a while, and have seen a few things.
You mean Lieberals are hypocrites?
I'm SO surprised.
Yea, and white trash screw thier sisters. Lets keep the stereotypes going, oh yea, rednecks are all drunks.
Considering that homosexuals are probably more likely to separate or divorce, if gay marriage/unions should become a reality - it may be a prudent tactic to have a gay lawyer on staff to add that "something something" to attract gay clientele. Lawyer fees from the division of assets tend to be pretty darned lucrative, especially with larger estates.
I'm still waiting for the first jilted gay live-in, boy toy to sue his sugar daddy for a portion of the assets based on an expansion of "common law" unions.
And if I wasn't clear about why I'm waiting for that last to happen, it is because when it happens I'm going to laugh real hard.
It will be one of those unintended consequences that they should've thought through and seen coming.
Eeeewwww, did I hit close to a nerve ending or something?
Wear your sexuality on your sleeve and you hamper yourself needlessly. Bummer!
Not as perverted as the culture and medical societies that actually sever male/female organs, often on taxpayer dollars.
Easy to hack off tissue or add some.
Can't change the chromosomes though. No such thing as a 'transgendered.' Just a legal, medicinalized, freak.
Do you know why attorneys wear neckties?
It keeps their foreskins from riding up over their faces.
Anyone who identifies with their sexual dysfunction is a dysfunctional person. Sexual confusion and dysfunction is a character defect; it is neither benign or something to be proud of.
I'd say list!
Being a drunk is a much more honorable occupation than being a homosexual attorney... YECHHH! What a concept!
