You don't want to mess with the Philadelphia police.
Here's what they did back in 2004 to a carjack suspect when he made the mistake of shooting at them:

A passenger in the stolen car involved in Friday’s fatal police shootout in Fishtown remains at large as the police department continues its internal investigation of the incident that left the driver of the vehicle dead. The unidentified man ran from the car, a white Mercedes sedan, after it crashed into a concrete column underneath Interstate 95 on Aramingo Avenue shortly after 2 a.m., police officials said during a Friday afternoon news conference. Moments after the passenger fled, the driver shot at police three times, Commissioner Sylvester Johnson said, prompting officers to return fire. According to published reports, almost two dozen officers fired more than 300 shots at the suspected car thief, who was later identified as Damon Smith, 31, of the 800 block of Wynnewood Road in Overbrook. Smith was wounded multiple times and pronounced dead about a half hour later at Temple University Hospital.

But its not like the good old days when we had Frank Rizzo as Mayor and former police commissioner
He once boasted that the Philadelphia Police Department could invade Cuba and win.

Many years ago Esquire Magazine used to have the Dubious Achievement of the Year Awards every January.

One of my favorites: the 6 Philadelphia police officers who were suspended for having a shaving cream fight in a squad car.

Another fave, the guy who held up a bank with a jock strap over his face.

A runner-up was a vet who specialized in artificial insemination of elephants. What he had to do to obtain his raw materials, OMG.
