Actually Voinovich had reversed himself many weeks ago, before the current crisis even began.

Bolton was and is an excellent nomination, and the 'Rats were foolish to oppose him (as was Georgie "Crybaby" Voinovich).

Hillary vos Savant is in an especially difficult position. If she joins a filibuster, that will make her look like a weak supporter of Israel. If she doesn't, then that will be just another point to enrage the moveon.org mob.

Full credit to the President for turning his political enemies against each other. Lesson for the 'Rats: Play partisan games on national security at your own risk.

Actually Voinovich had reversed himself many weeks ago, before the current crisis even began.

Yes, he did - but he's a Republican, and he was probably pressured to good sense before the outbreak of the current crisis, because a seemingly unpressured change of mind looks a lot less political than the situation in which the Democrats find themselves. And Voinovich is a Republican, as frustrating as he may be, and I specifically stated Democrats in my post.

Bolton was and is an excellent nomination, and the 'Rats were foolish to oppose him (as was Georgie "Crybaby" Voinovich).

Yes. And the Democrats were very foolish to oppose him. Bolton's appropriateness for the times makes his recess appointment a decisive and strategic win for President Bush. But without the current crisis, Bolton's quality would be less well known, and pressure on the Democrats to confirm him to his post would be far less. Thus, events out maneuvered the Democrats.

Events have worked out well for Bush's appointment making the Democrats' position indefensible. The Democrats maneuvered themselves into the position they're in. Bolton's qualification for the position he now occupies was not a strategy or a tactic. Bush expected confirmation based on Bolton's credentials. The filibuster was unfortunate, but the recess appointment allowed Bolton to be in the right place at the right time.

The Democrats will blame Bush for putting them in this position, but the ultimate fault lies with the Democrats and the fact that they've underestimated Middle East affairs again.

I worked hard on Voinivich. I emailed him every positive article or critique of Bolton. Bolton was another great pick by POTUS.
