Israel's Ambassador to Washington Danny Ayalon said Wednesday that UN Secretary General Kofi Annan should apologize to Israel for saying that dropping a bomb on a UN post in south Lebanon was a deliberate act.

Speaking to CNN Ayalon said Annan's comments are "scandalous," and demanded he apologize.

Ditto that. The worst thing for the Israelis to do would be to go all hangdog and sheepish. Kofi Annan is the front man for a gang of antisemitic thugs.

Although I agree, I have to say "fat chance".

Yep, what do you expect from an organization that once had a Nazi, Kurt Waldheim, as Secretary General?

Weren't some IDF soldiers ambushed by Hezbollah agents disguised as UN troops near the Lebanon border a few years ago? Around Fall, 2000 I think?

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of how Hezbollah bad guys got the uniforms and trucks of UN troops?

I don;t blame the IDF of being a little leery of folks in UN uniforms.

Annan was wrong. It is a war zone and hazardous. Expecting every bullet or bomb to surgically strike only its intended target is for children under age three.

I saw this man interviewed by Wolf Blitzer last night on CNN. He was outstanding. Not someone I would want to mess witih. He was quite angry. Justifiably so.

Excellent. I have to wonder if facts mean ANYTHING to Kofi Annan.

This is the man, after all, who knew that Iraq wasn't abiding by the UN's own resolutions and did nothing. Similarly, he knew that Lebanon wasn't abiding by the UN's own resolutions and did nothing.

Maybe the facts really just don't matter to Kofi so he makes them up as he goes along.

Dear Ambassador Ayalon,

Good for you! Stand firm and don't apologize to Kofi and the U-damn-N for anything! But don't hold your breath expecting Kofi and his nest of vipers to apologize for their trash talk, either!

Kofi's mad because he won't be getting his cut from Hezbollah
for info from the site as to when Israelis are on the way!

Kofi needs to go. *Now*. The man is a waste of time.
The U.N. had so much potential once upon a time, now it is almost a terrorist organization itself, isn't it? :-(
So much corruption, feh.

Yes, I bet the Democrats wouldn't boycott a speech to Congress by the clearly anti-Israeli Kofi Annan, or hold a counter-point rebutal response after his speech or demand he retract his anti-Israeli statements and condemn Hezbollah like they so rudely did with a US ally the Iraqi PM Malaki.

Forget an apology, Annan must resign. Annan also must be indicted and tried for the misuse of UN funds and attempting to cover up the payments to Saddam from the Oil for Arms program.

Israel should present the UN with a bill for its costs in this war.

No, this was the man who knew Iraq wasn't abiding by the UN's resolutions and he profited from it.

Waldheim is a diversion for the lefties.

The UN has been rotten to the core from the get go. Check out this fascinating article on the 1956 Suez crisis which nails the iconic Dag Hamarskjold as what we would recognize immediately today as an oily EUrocrat who would feel perfectly at home in the UN of 2006.
