Once more friends, America is being treated to an example of exactly what Liberals mean by “compassion.” Via Michelle Malkin’s post on Townhall.com this morning, Human Events Online writer Lisa De Pasquale provides us a taste of what those “peace loving” Leftist are really like by reposting comments she found on an America Online message board attacking Sgt. Leonid Milkin, whose wife, two sons and sister-in-law were murdered in Kirkland, Wash., last week while he was serving in Iraq:
“Too bad the paid assasin [sic] wasn’t home also . . . Got what he deserved for serving an illegal government in an illegal war.”
“Maybe he signed up for the wrong profession because who in their right mind would want to be a army man? He should have studied harder in school and found a real job instead of joining the army. Lmao [laugh my ass off], be all u can be? Don’t patronize me ! People who join the army either have no education or come from small towns.. He should blame himself for his family dying due to his lack of education.”
“ANOTHER BUSH TRADJEDY [sic] . . . YIP FOLKS HERE ARE 5 [sic — 4] MORE NOTCHES, BUSH CAN ADD TO HIS BELT.”

What a perfect example of the truth of Leftist “compassion.” If you hate America, if you hate the military, if you support the actions of terrorists, if you KILL American troops, you are deserving of Liberal sympathy. If you believe America is a great nation, if you are willing to fight for freedom and democracy, if you sacrifice for your country and its people, then you are a suitable target for Liberal scorn and hatred.
Michelle also mentions the remarks of renowned Irish “peace activist” and Nobel Peace Laureate Betty Williams who said to hundreds of schoolchildren this week in a murder-minded diatribe against President Bush:
“Right now, I would love to kill George Bush.”
Now that’s what I call an interesting take on “peace.”
That is the vile truth of the extreme Left, if you doubt it, visit websites where they hangout like http://democraticunderground.com. There you will see similar sentiments being expressed, not by everyone, not even by a plurality, but you will see those kinds of sentiments expressed and endorsed by long-time members. You will see much beating of breasts and tearing of hair proclaiming how horrible it is that our troops are being killed in Iraq. You will see much soul-searching over how many Iraqi civilians are being killed by our troops, whether the numbers are valid or not, usually without any questioning of the reports. What you will not see is calls for support for the troops.
You will not see requests for gifts or contributions to support the troop’s moral. You certainly will never see calls for prayer for our troops.
You will never see sentiments like those of the anonymous hater, quoted above, expressed on conservative websites like http://freerepublic.com regardless of how far to the right they are. You are far more likely to find comments expressing outrage at this type of hateful attack, even if it is directed at a Liberal; you are far more likely to find comments expressing support for our troops, you are more likely to find comments calling for donations and gifts for the troops, and asking for prayers for the safety of our troops and their families.
You will also find comment expressing regret for the deaths of innocent civilians and expressing outrage at and condemning, where deserved, any atrocities our troops might commit.
An interesting difference, no?

And all the more reason that those who were rejoicing the death of UN peacekeepers on Free Republic last night should be ashamed.
Let's not be like the left. I'm no fan of the UN, far from it, but we should not be celebrating the death of soldiers who work for UNIFIL.
When did this happen? Was the story of this multiple murder posted on FR?

It happened in Kirkland, WA. I did a search and there was no thread here on FR as far as I can tell. I do vaugely recall reading about it in a newspaper some months ago.
Actually, this happened LAST WEEK.
There are a small number of freepers who say some pretty nasty things. We sure aren't perfect.
