Perhaps, but I think you give Richard Engel (the reporter) too much credit in specualating that.
Engel was one who, in the early stages of the Iraq War, sent his driver down stairs from Engel's hotel room to gather information, so Engel didn't have to go down stairs. [The enemy were shooting at the hotel area.]

Engel provided more laughs than any other reporter...for which he earned the sobriquet, "Pretty Chicken". Good memories.
