July 26, 2006 -- After being accused of sexual harassment and fired by ESPN, former "Baseball Tonight" analyst Harold Reynolds said yesterday he doesn't think he did anything wrong and is still hoping to regain his job.
"This was a total misunderstanding," Reynolds told The Post. "My goal is to sit down and get back. To be honest with you, I gave a woman a hug and I felt like it was misinterpreted."
SNIP
Reynolds declined to give any more details. The woman who accused Reynolds of the sexual harassment is an ESPN co-worker, according to sources.
Yesterday, ESPN confirmed The Post's report that Reynolds had been fired, but they would not comment any further.
"He no longer works here," ESPN VP Josh Krulewitz said.
Still, Reynolds is hopeful ESPN executives will change their minds. Besides being with the network for 11 years, Reynolds had just signed a new six-year contract to remain in Bristol and he recently got married.

But at least he still has his dog, $h!thead. And this lamp. His dog, this lamp, and these sunglasses...
Why do they keep the jerk Irvin on? He's an obnoxious totally unwatchable prima donna!
There are two things I watch on ESPN: The Sports Reporters and the NFL weekly highlights, the latter so I can get some idea of how my fantasy team did.
BTW, if you don't recognize that movie reference, S-head is the actual name of the dog, not a curse aimed at you!
Because ESPN is run by idiots? Yeah, I can't stand Irvin, either. Nor Stewart Scott or half the wannabees over there now.
It all started downhill when ESPN radio got rid of Tony Bruno...
I guess that depends on your culture. It sounds like you live in the sterile cold, politically corrected world of hillary, Madalyn and Janet.
I've been cursed enough that it rolls on down... smoke 'em if you got 'em!
If it ain't on Speed, Fox, TNT, Spike, or NBCSports, it ain't worth watching!
Think he also has the ashtray??? Great movie reference...
So who did he hug?
My money is on Linda "Six Toe" Cohn.
What ever happened to "Keep it up and I'll do a Lorena Bobbitt on you!" or a hard knee to the groin, or "How about I call your wife right now and ask her about us dating?" or calling a few friends to have a chat in the parking lot explaining that if he left you alone he'd not need major dental work?
he was more than a jerk- they said he was a major POS and impossible to work with- the exact opposite of what he was on TV
ESPN, The Eastcoast Sports Propoganda Network.
All Yankees and Red Sox, all the time.
You must mean say something stupid.
You'd be surprised how many people seem to do it according to this thread.
Sounds like political correctness at ESPN strikes again.
Yes, I am biased because Reynolds is one of the few at ESPN who isn't annoying on tv. If your friend is right and he was given warnings, then I guess he really did have to go.
Oh well, at least Olberman isn't back on it with his moronic criticisms of boxing and football. As pathetic as he is on MSNBC, he was worse on ESPN.
All right, just as pathetic.
In my experience a "hug" won't get you fired. The real story had to be something more and your friend's explanation clears that up. As for Brantley, what a dope!
You'd be amazed at the number of times co-workers try to hug. It is much less frequent now than it used to be - thank goodness. It is very unpleasant to have a big sweaty guy try to hug you. Basically I think they want to feel your breasts up against them. Yuck.
And...just because you may have been politically corrected doesn't give you a license to impose your political correctness on others. Obviously, there are legitimate arguments on both sides. Some cultures shake hands in greeting, others think it is a filthy habit that spreads germs and warts. Some cultures hug and touch cheeks in greeting, others think this offends their person. Some athletes hug, slug and swat each other. On the bottom line, judgment, awareness and consideration are factors. I certainly would never hug hillary, but I would consider a hug of congratulations or condolence for a good friend - male of female.
Drat. It's bad enough that Peter Gammons is ill. Harold Reynolds and Jeff Brantley, fired?
Just don't let anything happen to Kruk!
