The Bush Economy Is Not Working For America

July 24, 2006

Between the Bush Administration’s failed leadership and the inaction by the Republican “Do-Nothing” Congress, America’s families are feeling the pinch. According to the latest Lundberg Survey released yesterday, gasoline prices “hit an all-time high in the last two weeks, rising to just over $3 per gallon,” as the “national average for self-serve regular stood at $3.02 a gallon.” [Buffalo News, 7/24/06]. The latest jump in prices was in part “triggered by the Israel-Hezbollah conflict in Lebanon” and “comes at an inopportune time for the global economy,” just as “U.S. growth is slowing and inflation is rising,” according to Bloomberg News. [Bloomberg News, 7/24/06] Instead of engaging in the Middle East and working to help the American people with rising gas prices, Republicans in Washington have stuck to their failed foreign policies and special interest economic agenda.

And, while Americans are trying to cope with rising gas prices and other costs, according to the Bush White House’s own figures, “earnings for workers with four-year degrees fell 5.2% from 2000 to 2004 when adjusted for inflation.” [Los Angeles Times, 7/24/06]

“With gas prices at record levels and wages decreasing, once again it is clear that the Bush economy is not working for hard-working Americans,” said Democratic National Committee Press Secretary Stacie Paxton. “It's no wonder that a majority of Americans have lost confidence in President Bush and his Republican leadership's ability to address their problems. When the Republicans had the opportunity to offer relief to hard working American families and raise the minimum wage, they refused to do so, but when it came to tax breaks for oil companies they acted quickly to help their special interests. Time after time, Republicans put what’s good for them and their special interest friends ahead of what’s good for hard working Americans. Democrats offer America a new direction that puts hard-working Americans first, will end tax breaks for big oil, work to make America energy independent in the next decade and raise the minimum wage.”

Orlando produces 41,000 new jobs Metro area's jobless rate sinks to 3.1% in June -- down from 3.8%. It must be the democRAT governor ... no, wait, that would be Jeb Bush, the Republican governor.

Lead story on ABCBSNBC tonight.

Unless some soldier's second cousin blames Bush and it's caught on camera.

Democrats want go to back to 18% inflation, 15% unemployment, 0% GDP growth.

You know, the good old days.

Still cheaper, inflation-adjusted, than under the last year of Jimmy Carter. Plus cars today get a lot better mileage.

The real problem with $3 a gallon gas is the Democrats blocking development of domestic energy fields. If we had drilled in ANWAR ten years ago, gas would today be at half its price.

The other day on Fox News some DUMBOcrat shill tried to say: World supplies have increased. Whenever supplies increase, prices go down.

Um, not true. It is called the law of supply AND demand for a reason. If demand stays CONSTANT and supplies increase, prices go down. But if demand increases more than supplies increase, prices go up.

When I mention that to my lefty relatives they simply say that rate is low because everyone's been unemployed so long that they have dropped off the unemployment rolls! Frustrating.

EARTH TO DEMOCRATS - What is YOUR plan???

So far, the only plan I've seen is - Obstruct and Criticize, ad infinitum.
